Have I been victimised?

Sun Apr 29, 2012 4:45 pm

I have been informed on the 2nd April that redundancies will be made at my depot.

The company has now gone through the selection process and ( surprisingly) the 30 drivers all safe have been all here the longest. Despite many having final warnings on their records.

I have no warning or any other discrepancy on my record.

On Monday I was informed by my union that the letters were being posted out to all drivers informing us of our fate and we would know by Wednesday, if we were at risk we would be subject to interview.

When I entered the depot for my break on the Monday I was asked by my manager for a word where I was asked if I could come in on Wednesday for my interview? To which I replied " I take it I'm a RISK then"

On wed I got ma letter saying I was a risk, but for the 48hrs previous I was asked by every other staff member if it was true what happend to me...

Myself and 90% of my collegues have known my fate 48hrs befor they know their own. And I have been the hot topic all week.

I was under the impression the whole process was designed to be private and confidential?

I've only been there for four years and I knew that would go against me but three people I know have been told they are safe all have final written and have been on suspension over past 12 months.

Anyways my original moan was more based on the fact I was alerted to my fate 48 hours before anyone else knew theirs and they all seemed to know my fate also.

The management team should have a scoring matrix by which they come to their decision. The scoring table can be a weighted or biased as they like as long as the same criteria is used for all.

You should be allowed to see the scoring criteria, but if they score up to 1 year as 3 point, 5 years as 10 point and 10 years 20 points and only deduct 1 point for a verbal warning over the last year there is not a lot you can do sorry.
