Stewards yesterday

Sun Apr 29, 2012 11:17 am

Was really discusted yesterday, on aproch to the turnstiles the stewards where searching people. As per normal I put my 10 year old in front of me, when he got to the steward (191) the steward asked my boy to put his arms up, I asked why the steward said he got to search my lad I told him no he's only 10 he's not to be searched after a argument he got shitty with me and carried on searching, he then sent my boy through the turnstile on his own, he then started to make my life hard and told me to empty my pockets I pointed out thAt he had sent my boy through on his own and that I was about to lose him in the crowd, luckily the lads in front had seen what happened and kept my boy by the turnstile

What right did steward 191 have to search a 10 year old got to be illegal. I mAde a complaint to there supervisor and to are stewards who both took my details, if I don't get a response from palace can I make a police complaint

Was the same in January chief. I took umbrage with a few of the stewards over the way it was all handled. It's something I meant to check up on but never did.

Having been searched they took my phone sharger off me and I had to go and pick it up later. I then get inside and there are two blokes flying a f*cking eagle up and down the park - 'cos they ain't a danger to the public!

I don't think they had any right to search your lad and they certainly had no right to split you up.

Shocking. You'll no doubt get a few idiots on here blaming city fans.

you can make every complaint you want. This is illegal, stewards are allowed to look in kids bags (with parents permission), they can ask questions, like have you got a bottle of coke with you (if the club wants to decant bottled drinks) but at no time should a child be searched.
if there is suspicion that a child maybe carrying something, say a weapon or illegal substances a steward should contact the nearest police officer and explain you suspicions because the police have the proper authority to search children.
did this steward actually search your son?
if he did go to the police ignore the clubs go straight to the police.
if he didnt keep complaining to both clubs Cardiff and Palace and dont stop until you get an answer.
my hope would be that this steward was new to the job and has got confused on what he can or cant do, or he didnt care and was in breach of his powers.
the minimum this steward should get is retraining on the subject of searching or lose his job.

I fully intend on keeping on unroll I get answers, yes he searched my lad just like he searched me, well out of order, what got to me more was the fact that when I told him to stop he didn't, should of gone to the police straight away really

go to the police its common assault he manhandled your child without your permission or your sons permission, youve said stop he carried on. You can file a claim for assault at anytime doesnt have to be on the day. My advice contact your local police station and ask how to proceed. Im a steward not a legal expert the police will be able to advise you better.

For the first time i totally agree with jonny on this point. No steward is allowed to search a child.

My son cracked open a can of coke just as we were about to go in and a steward, quite aggresssively told him he couldn't take it in.

I had a bit of a go at him as its no way to approach a 10-year old and asked for a cup, which they didnt have.

The guys approach improved a bit after that, explaining that he'd been hit by a can at a game and it was the rules etc.. however as I told him some manners might well help him do his job without winding people up in future.

The one next to him looked embarassed and was apologising for not having the cup etc..

Don't these people get ANY training ?

Me and my boy got to the gate and the Steward asked Regan his age and said he cant take his can of Coke in. (same at the City ground) The Steward was polite and then searched me and then said to Regan i am going to search you as well, he was about to start then said "You are with Dad go on" so no problems as such.
