Apparently they kicked off because some City fans gt off a bus with booze and were peeing in gardens and banging on windows.
Only what I heard from our driver (apart from the confiscation bit which we KNOW happened) -so don't shoot the messenger.
I hope its not true, if a couple of knobs decided to spoil it for the rest of us who by the way were 'absolutey superb'.

Sorry if this was a bit boring but i felt like having a rant about it!! Cuz i thought all city surportors were well behaved and considering we are in a recetion, this was valueble money these pubs/shops needed as this shop keeper told me.
Did anyone have the same issue as me today?

I wouldn't let it spoil your weekend. City won, we're in the play-offs and the MET have once again shown themselves to be the complere facists they have always been. Are you really gonna let them nazis spoil your weekend because you couldn't get a drink til 5? Nah mate, feck em, and don't give em the time of day or waste any thoughts on them..... your missus is waiting

Yea dont get me wrong the result was awsome and the game and the atmosphere, the met just took the edge of what would have been one of the best days out. I was talking to a steward at the ground about letting alchohol inside, and he agreed that what the differance between a plastic bottle of coke compared to a plastic bottle of carling???

It's illegal to have alcohol on a coach either going to or returning from a football match.

Given I'm a regular away traveller and have organised lots of caches myself including today then I'm well aware of the score -and also of what the police tell us. You might be a bit surprised by some of that.
However, I don't know if you travel away regularly, or if its by coach, if you do you'll also be aware that most police forces turn a blind eye and at dozens of grounds around the country fans 'get away with it'. I'd be VERY susrpised if your club didn't too (especially as I know one who goes away with your lot who would collapse if he had to go 3-4 hours without a beer)

Indeed, most unofficial buses are the same as yours with plenty of consumption going on![]()
When I go to away games though, which isn't as often I used to, I usually let the train take the strain.

From what I've heard going by train is an even bigger nightmare for our fans.

Mikey27 wrote:I like im sure alot of city fans today was really looking forward to the last game of the season. It just so happened to be a game that we needed a result which added extra spice. So me an the mrs thought we would make a weekend of it and stay over night, after a lovely journy we got to our hotel in south london and made our way to thorton heath, when we arrived we saw a pub accros the road from the train station with a number of plain clothes men outside. I decided to ask a met officer what were? If any designated city pubs were in the area? To which the police officer laughed in my face an told me cant you see the pub over there mate!!! My girlfriend/fiance found this hilarious so i just laughed it off and said thanx. Even though i thought it wasnt helpfull.
Everything else was supurb after that untill me and the mrs decided to go back to the pub after the game to have a beer and some food. On the way back i seemed to notice that all the pubs that were open before the game seemed to be closed, but didnt think anything of it. It was only when we got to the flora pub that was opposite the station was closed that i thought something was up. Me and the mrs decided to go to tescoes get some beers and go back to the hotel. This is when i found out the met had put this as a high risk game and no place in a mile radius was allowed to sell alchohol which really pissed me off!!! Anyway i didnt give up and decided to walk further down the road to the local corner shops to see if they would sell me some alchohol. This is when i had a chat with a shop owner who told me that a met officer had personally told him they werent allowed to sell alchohol untill 5o,clock. I said to him, why not its only cardiff palace? To which he said that this officer had informed him that cardiff were high risk surportors who were likely to course trouble after the game!!! This pissed me off because the majority of city fans that were still there, were either couples or small groups of middle aged men Just looking for a pint before they went home.
This action from the met has in mine and my mrs opinion ruined our weeked as we didnt feel like going anywhere else as we Had our city shirts on.
