IF IT DOESN'T GO TO PLAN

Mon Apr 23, 2012 9:31 pm

If at 14.15 on Saturday afternoon we are not celebrating a place in the play offs, I will be disappointed but I will always remember what my expectations were for this team at the start of the season.

I will look back and remember that this team took our season to the very last game despite me believing we would be a team finishing 10th, they got us to the League Cup Final and give us something to shout about right to the very end.

So whatever will be will be, the football may not have been the best we have witnessed but what did we expect from this squad in August?

Let's hope they can raise the bar yet again on Saturday :ayatollah:

If it doesn't go to plan I suggest sacking everyone at the club and liquidation.

It's the only sensible action.

When the season started I said I expected top six and still do.

When I initially seen te squad I felt top 7 was fair and we will get that now.
Still anything other than play/offs will be Dissapointing.

However I wouldn't have changed our cup run. If someone offered me an extra 3 points now instead of the cup run I'd turn it down without thinking about it.

Whatever happens I'm happy with this season but whatever division I expect improvement next season.

True and the future is looking bright anyway, as per your update, if we can settle the debt, next year could be even more exciting, and we have a Manager that has a great record for signing excellent players, with really good character.

I am feeling way less pressure than this time last year that's for sure :ayatollah:

If at 14:15 our dreams are shattered, I say we kidnap the palace cheerleaders and bring them down to CCS, put them in some skimpy bluebrids outfit and have them perform at half time, that may get the boring quiet crowd going  :ayatollah:

are you f*cking serious,,,,from 3rd to 7th, but dont worry, we never expected to and besides we got to a cup final and lost...... everytime we reach the playoffs it makes us big team in this league which better players look at and go yea, i want to be part of this................but i suppose barcelona are saying dont worry about not winning the league because Real spent big but atleast we're in the champions league semi's.........brilliant players or a big squad dont win games, a TEAM does, swansea took a bunch of football championship rejects and low league players and in brendans first year got them promo with less than what malky had ................ first we lose atmosphere now we got fans accepting mediocrity.........our squad are good enough and failure is out of the f*cking question............i dont know whats worse, everyone saying it doesn't matter or being asked to sit down and be quiet because people want to enjoy a game of football in our stadium

If we don't the playoff's then we'll all be gutted , but I'm not so much worried about that because that's only natural But it's more our style of Football that is the biggest disappointment. Our style of football is poor and instead of going forward and seeing improvement, that will hold in good stead for the years to come , it's going backwards with total lack of passing, looking comfortable on the the ball and just where we continuing to woof the ball up to the air, to the forwards .

That for me is the biggest let down this season, along with Miller and Earnie who just aren't good enough and getting paid a fortune, for being duds in front of goal

Agreed. We was two points off top spot at in jan knowing we needed 3-4 new faces but it did not happen for reasons unknown to the blinker wearing fans, who are the ones who say oh well its ok we didnt want 1st place f**k it let's rebuild next season . If we do not make the playoffs I see nothing but a failed season going backwards after all who sacks a manager to do worse the season after.

I know we didn't really expect much at the start of the season due to the big clear out, but we should've got an auto spot, in my opinion. It was there for the taking, we didn't bolster the squad when the time was right and players grew more and more tired, yet they were played game after game because the manager felt he had no other options.

The Carling Cup Final was a fantastic, memorable occasion and part of that day was spent with a superb crowd of people from the Forum. The people make it for me, rather than the football, but that's always been the case.

If we don't get to Wembley, at least, in May, then it would be a massive disappointment to me. This could be a career defining time for some of our players and they need to realise that and impress upon some of the youngsters the importance of Saturday's match, not just to them but to a lot of our fans too.

We have four games left to regain some credibility for this club, instead of "doing a Cardiff" again. I hate that saying and we should consign it to the dustbin in May.

GET INTO 'EM!

I’m sorry but I can’t accept this.

Granted at the start of the season a mid table finish seemed where we were realistically heading for (that’s certainly where I expected us to finish), but that has changed due to good form before Christmas. The side has shown they have the ability so ultimately if we fail it will be another year of getting ourselves into a great position early on and p****** it away. Look at the recent home form, it’s been nothing short of pathetic, 8 points from our last 8 home games against Leeds, Derby, Watford, Millwall, Coventry, Burnley, Hull and West Ham. That’s not acceptable IMO, just one more point from that lot and we’d already be there.

Having said that I don’t want to be too negative as I believe we’ll make it, but if we mess this up I’ll feel exactly as I did at the end of 08/09, throwing away a playoff place from a very strong position (that season I also expected us to finish mid-table so it’s a good comparison)
