Dont call all the filipinos the same ! I know many filipinos and they work in homes and most of them are well liked by the old people in the homes. But yes you do get the bad ones with the good, and of course we will only hear about the bad , never the good.

As I said , you will always get the odd ones, But to be honest life in the philippines is so cheap and in there hospitals its the family that has to care for there family if they are in hospital. Also the homes them selfs are to blame, they give only like 30mins to wash and dress the old people so the homes put time before the well being of the old people. You even hear storys of people in hospitals asking for bedpans to go for a pee or crap , only to have a nurse say , wait a min, then 30mins later the person will ask again ,only to fined out that the first nurse they ask had already gone home and didnt tell anyone about the bedpan.

Agree with alot of what you say and I didn't see the programme tonight but my wife worked for the council for nearly 30yrs as a Care officer and Senior Care officer in resedential homes in cardiff.While she too questioned the motivation of some of the immigrant workers that have come into the industry lately she maintains the worst staff shes ever come accross were home grown women who were institutionalised bullies who used to think that fag breaks were more important than looking after residents.A few years ago a care officer working for the council could command a reasonable salary for what was a very responsible job but now the council have closed or passed to private contractors most of the care homes and the salary is commensurate with what you could expect to earn in Tesco's stacking shelves.
