he is playing as a lone STRIKER. STRIKERS are there to score goals when the chances are there, not miss them like a local league player.
yes he makes runs and creates space for others but he still cant score which is his job.
It says alot when mason can calmly stroke the ball past reina but our seasoned pro strikers blasts it.
discuss.

I create those threads to get people riled up. But the truth is, Miller is unbelievably bad signing, considering he is not even our top scorer, when he is PREMIERSHIP QUALITY GOALSCORER according to some. Money we pay for him is mind-boggling.

People slagging off Miller judging him by his goals should look at his overall contribution, which has been brilliant considering he's played as a lone striker for the majority of the season with no quality service. With our 4-5-1 system, none of our 5 midfielders are able to get forward enough to support Miller. Swansea's 4-5-1 has Dyer and Sinclair constantly getting forward to support Graham with Sigurdsson and Allan getting forward from the middle also. So Graham gets good service, but Miller doesn't, meaning Miller usually has to either drop deeper to get the ball or make a run down the channel, meaning when our midfield are able to eventually get forward, Miller isn't in the box.

Recently we have gone to 4-4-2 with Mason up front with Miller, but Miller is the one dropping deep to link the play and create while Mason is on the shoulder of the last man. Miller contributes so much to our team and to be honest, I think people slagging Miller off saying he's not performing and been a waste of money don't really have much of a clue about football. Miller in Reading's team for example playing alongside Jason Roberts and having McAnuff and Kebe supplying him from the wings would be scoring freely. Also, look at Newcastle this season, Demba Ba was scoring freely, now his goals have dried up and Cisse is scoring. Why? Because Demba Ba is now doing what Miller is doing for us, he's contributing more to the team to allow Cisse to get into the positions to score the goals, just like Miller is contributing to our team to allow Mason to get into his positions to score.

miller seems to have lost his goal scorring touch......he doesnt seem able or willing to get into goal scoring positions, and ive never seen a striker recieve a ball yet always has his back to goal...sometimes he needs to make that run at the keeper :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

With Miller I feel its the fact that he just does not look likely to score. He is doing everything else really well, his movement is really good, he pulls the defenders out of position to give more space for other players. If he was playing just off a striker I don't think people would be complaining about him, but as he is the main point of attack he just fustrates the fans because he doesnt look likely to score.

I think hate is a strong word. Fans were just expecting a better goal return from our main striker. If he scores saturday and helps us get in the playoffs, im sure all will be forgiven.

He isnt playing as a striker.......he's playing as a link man.

totally different roles

During the Leeds game I got fed up of people around me slagging Miller off,He was not playing as the main striker ,in fact he has not played that for weeks(since Cowie's been injured). He as played as the link between MF and Mason. Which means a lot of running back and defending.Being the extra man in midfield when needed.I think against Palace, Cowie will be back and Mason will be on the bench, and Miller will then be the lone striker.
People might not like this but, Miller brings so much more to the side, very unselfish player.
So we got one game left can we leave the slagging off and support the team, end of the season is the time for the reviews and moans.

Miller is going through a tough time at the moment, although he is working very hard for the team and making chances for other players.

Also I think he needs a little lady luck, he's hit the woodwork a few times of late. I'm sure he will give 100% against Palace and who knows he may get the winner. Let's get behind the whole team this Sat, because boy do we need a good result. :ayatollah:

Link man, striker, whatever, when he gets chances them hes snatches at them like a schoolboy not a seasoned pro.

Not worth the money we pay for him.

He hasnt been doing neither very effectively..... Besides blowing the chances hes been getting, hes not exactly creating chances for others.....A good striker in a shit league like the SPL but not a top championship striker.

What game were you watching? He played the role great. He rarely loses the ball and consistently finds wider players (who don't get forward enough to support him for my liking) after holding up play.

A great save from Lonergan stopped him scoring against Leeds, he hit the Post against Derby (resulting in Mason scoring from the rebound) and scored and hit the post against Watford..

When Earnshaw comes on we look a weaker side. I would still bring him on but for Mason (who tends to go missing later in the game after a great first half) and keep Kenny on.

I know he has not been scoring but his overall contribution to the team should not be overlooked.

We are fortunate that in Mason we do have a goal scorer who is on form but Miller has been prviding a lot of those chances for him

Mason will be on the bench :o I don't think so fella, he is our player that's most likely to score. I like Miller but sorry I would put him on the bench before Mason.
I agree with the rest of your post though

why does everyone always he does lots of other things for the team if your a stricker the only thing you must do is score goals he was one on one with the keeper on saturday and he missed so he's not good it's that simple

when was he one on one, he was pushed wide and had a good effort with his left foot. Point is, he's not a striker. Malky is playing him as a link between mid and Att. Hence his lack of goals.

As long as Malky is happy to play him I'm happy he's playing, simple as. Rather him upfront then Rudy or Earnshaw.
