A forum for all things Cardiff City

The season is coming to the business end and we're still in with a great chance of reaching the playoffs for the 3rd year running. It would have been nice to wrap it up yesterday but Cardiff being Cardiff, we have to do it the hard way! It's not going to be easy but I think we have enough to get what we need at Palace (come Saturday morning i'll be a nervous wreck!!).
Whether we make the playoffs or not I believe this season has been a success, when you look at where we were back in pre-season. After last seasons huge dissapointment no one knew what this season had in store, come the end of May we had no manager and hardly any players. There was a big debate as to who should be the next manager and a few big names were thrown in the debate. Not many would have predicted Malky Mackay.
Since his appointment Cardiff have surpassed all pre season expectations by being in the mix for the playoffs. The fans have taken to Malky and vice versa. He's built a team that fight for everything and he has brought in some great signings, some absolute bargains!
Some fans may disagree with me saying that we should of been in the promotion mix. But seeing what we were up agaisnt at the start (West Ham, Southampton, Birmingham, Leicester and Middlesbrough) I thought we may have been up agaisnt it.
And who can forget the Carling Cup run, simply amazing!!
Since xmas Malky has come under some criticism with regards to selections and changing tactics during games. Our squad is probably one of the smallest in the league, in some games it did show. Our squad size has been the topic of many debates this year but the fact that we're still in the mix shows we do have quality. We've learnt alot about the players and coaching staff this year and we can see that we have a bright future.
But let's not forget, Malky is still learning his trade, he's gone up agaisnt some of the most experienced managers in the game and succeded. He would have learnt alot from this season and i'm sure he'll admit to making a few mistakes during the season.
What ever happens this season, its been a succesful one!

Wembley cup final, 6th or 7th in the Championship. After a fairly big rebuilding job last summer, with not a lot of time to do it. Could just as easily gone through the trap door. Excellent season. Clear out some deadwood, get a few more of Malky's choices in, and next season could be even better

Agree, a very good season, all things considered. I just hope that all our long term problems off the pitch are resolved this summer, & that we are able to push things on next season. We really must progress.

Yeah, a very good season, especially when I thought that we would struggle midtable, I think MM has done a sterling job and you can see the togetherness of the squad and this was badly lacking last season.
Let's make this season even better and make the playoffs.

Or players like Turner, Taylor, Conway, Cowie, Gunnarrson, Mason

Don't agree but even if I did they are all still sellable assets which would command a fee if sold.

Definetly succesful. although missing out on saturday would be extremely disappointing
At least when malky reports back for pre season training there will be a talented squad there waiting for him, albeit one that needs a few more additions to challenge for promotion again(if not achieved this season)
the cup run was pure fantasy football,
