Mark Hudson Hasnt Got S**t on...

Thu Apr 19, 2012 3:34 pm

Mark Hudson's 68-yard strike against Derby on Tuesday was spectacular... but Cardiff have scored from further out.

Cue the legendary John Charles, who scored with a free-kick from 75 yards while playing against Norwich at Ninian Park in 1963.

Just before the interval, with the score at 1-1, Cardiff were awarded a free-kick for offside deep in their own half.

Wales legend Charles, making his Cardiff debut after joining from Roma, stepped up, gave the ball a hefty whack and benefited when Norwich goalkeeper Kevin Keelan, also making his debut, came to gather the ball, only for it to bounce just in front of him and strike him on the shoulder before looping into the net.

Had the ball not struck Keelan, the referee would have awarded a goal-kick because offside offences are punishable with an indirect free-kick.
