" Warnock would love to see cardiff promoted "

That wiliest of old Championship campaigners, Neil Warnock, has warned the Bluebirds he is out to ruin their play-off party.

Cardiff City know that if they can beat Warnock’s Leeds on Saturday they will have booked themselves a place in the top six, irrespective of what anyone else might do.

Leeds lost at Blackpool on Tuesday and, with two games left, find now they have nothing left to play for this campaign.

Many might have imagined Malky Mackay’s Bluebirds’ would find themselves with an easy passage into the play-offs, but they had reckoned without the ulta-competitive Warnock.

“I like Malky Mackay a lot, but we are not coming down there simply to lie down,” warned Warnock.

“I’m not used to playing for nothing at this stage of the season, but my players will be up for it I’ll make sure of that.

“There’s going to be a lot of movement at this club in the summer, players going and players coming in, and I’ve made my lads aware of that.

“But we know it’s going to be a tough game in Cardiff, they always are and they have had another fantastic season. Player for player, Cardiff are better than us, that shows by the fact they are higher than us in the table, but we are coming to win.

“We’ve got excellent travelling support and the fans have been great to me since I’ve been here so that’s motivation enough.”

But Warnock, who took QPR up as champions last season before being sacked at Loftus Road, admitted he would love to see the Bluebirds reach the Premier League at last.

Warnock added: “They’ve got a great stadium, real passionate support. I would like to see Cardiff go up this season I must admit.”

He was dishing out the compliments about Cardiff last season too. I do like the fella, players will always react to a character like that and good results go hand in hand with Neil Warnock.

I like him too, and can honestly see him being a future manager if we are still a championship club in a few years, but hopefully we will be premier league in a few weeks

He's always spoken highly of us even back at Ninian Park days.

Initially the guy used to get on my nerves but my opinion of him has changed and I think he is a a good manager.

I think like Stan QPR once said, if ever there was a Manager made for a club and a club appropriate for a Manager, it is Warnock and us - shame that it looks like it will never happen, but I'm more than happy with Malky

Im really surprised warnock who I actually rate as a manager took the job,hes dillusional if he believes he ll have a big warchest to mount a play off charge next season.
