Hudson - great season

Mark Hudson has had plenty of plaudits in the last 24 hours, mainly for his great performance and that wonderful strike.
Made me think though about his season in general.
His partnership with Gerrard at the beginning of the season wasn't great, but in my eyes he was still twice the player he was last year. Then when Big Ben came along, after a few games he's been great, and been consistent since then. Especially when you look at his performance against Liverpool. The way he reads the game ensured that he had Suarez in his pocket for the full 90-odd minutes he was on the pitch, WHILE carrying an injury. He's also chipped in with 5 goals (3 with his feet) this season, while only making 35 league appearences this year due to injury. Coming close so many time as well (Watford at home) and I feel he still has a few more in him between now and whenever our season finishes.

So IMO, he'll be a strong/suprise candidate for player of the season

I thought he had a good season last season as well.

A contender for player of the season for sure.

I'd always had my doubts about Hudson, but fair play, he's won me around recently

I think Turner is an exceptional player when you take into account that he's only been here for 8 months. A complete centre-half. He's got a decent distribution (he does 'hoof' it the most, though) and I don't understand those who label him slow. We've seen him - on numerous occasions already - make up ground quickly on players ahead of him and take them out with a perfect sliding challenge. Him and Hudson are definitely up there with the best partnerships in the league. Both were outstanding at Wembley Hudson is a quality player and leader, and anyone who says otherwise is kidding themselves.

He can be really aggravating and at times reallu poor but fair play he has done really well this season and that game against liverpool he was brilliant. I never rated him before this season but hes shining in a new light for me

I'd expect Whittingham to win Player of the Year this season -and deservedly so.

However its between him and Hudson over which has been the most consistent player over the past 2 seasons, maybe longer. (McNaughton would be close but has put in a fair few below par appearances this season).

Some of the criticism of Hudson in previous years was ludicrous.

He also seems to much prefer playing with Turner who is a superb player and has a much calmer temprament with Gerrard. although Gerrard is a decent enough player the 2 of them just never seemed to hit it off.

Hudson came 2nd in the vote for player of the season last year, (after Kev) but Whitts won 'Most improved player' - I remember that as Whitts seemed a bit insulted
