100 yrs Today TITANIC

Sat Apr 14, 2012 12:54 pm

Very sad day today, to think at the time I wrote this, 100 yrs ago to this very day. The ship TITANIC was steaming into history and 100s of people had only just over 12hrs of there lives left to live. May they all rest in piece. RIP

Personally, I think they go on about this too much. Many other tragedies have occurred since, yet they aren't covered by the media anywhere near as much. Could it be down to the fact that there were lots of rich people aboard?

I wish they could rest in peace.

Agree a sad day for all those who had relatives aboard the ship but like the last poster a lot of media hype yet again.

Have any of you heard of the "Lancastria" - appreciate that this was in WWII but more died in this incident and many of them were civilians

So was I - and all the other lives that have been lost since. Are you aware, for instance, that 45 men lost their lives in 1960 at Six Bells Colliery? I bet there's few that have heard about that, compared to the Titanic disaster. Like I said, many other disasters since then that don't get the same coverage - if any at all, in some cases.
