For all Swansea's supposed "Barcelona-like" football...

Wed Apr 11, 2012 4:53 pm

They're currently 3 points behind Stoke in the league and my bet is they'll end up finishing behind them!

Just shows that you can play around at the back as much as you like, and yet it hasn't been as effective as Stoke's "hoof it" long ball style! Both styles would bore me to be honest but all i care about seeing is winning football and Stoke's is certainly more effective!

They're also 4 points behind Norwich who, in my opinion, play a better style of attacking, flowing, passing football than Swansea too yet Swansea are getting all the credit for some strange reason!

I definitely think (and hope) they'll get found out next season and end up swapping leagues with us when, if we dont go up this year, Malky will hopefully have built a squad capable of going up next season, which i believe he will if he's given a bit of money :ayatollah:

fair enough :ayatollah:

I, on the other hand, wont sit here and praise the Jacks but im all for discussing football matters on a football forum when its my actual opinion AND criticism of Swansea :ayatollah:

also, part of the point was that i think we'll end up swapping leagues with them at the end of next season :ayatollah:

Fair comment mate!

Just think our home form(up untill recently) has been outstanding, we have also beat arsenal and manchester city at home unlike norwich and stoke, we have also kept twelve clean sheets( that for a newly promoted side is incredible).

I admit there is a slight concern that teams maybe finding us out but as for last friday on another day things would have been different(but they werent) We also went to anfield and dominated large parts of the game. the thing that has let us down this season is being able to finish on a regular basis! but all in all. its been an outsanding season with very liitle money spent, compared to others!

Scott, the reason we have got the plaudits this year is because we have played with a footballing philosophy and have not deviated from that. Basically we have brought something to the premier league which has been refreshing and enjoyable to the neutral. However, for the first time this season, against Newcastle I felt it was all starting to become a bit predictable and quite frankly rather tedious at times. So If we are too progress then we will have to bring in players who will enhance the system. I'm not saying a 'plan B' as we can't do that. But we are going to have to bring something more exciting to the way we play as if we don't, next season IS going to be a lot lot harder. And be rest assured it will rip through the club like a whirlwind from this season plaudits to the fans themselves. IE. it did rather seem judging by Leon Brittons play last weekend that most of his passes were instead of being more incisive, were made to keep his stats up! That will not be tolerated and will soon be found out. But I am confident that we will get the quality we need. So if you do make it anytime soon, be rest assured we will still be there! ;) :ayatollah:

You'll be a lot worse off if you can't secure the services of Sigurdsson and Caulker next season. And tbh with the amount of clean sheets you've gained and the form of Sigurdsson I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't get either.

agree with all that to be fair (apart from that you'll stay up next season) ;)
i think, to have any chance, you need a striker with more pace and better movement to suit your system, i think Danny Graham is a good player and a natural finisher but i just dont think he suits your style

Borini would have been perfect for you if you could have kept him, as would Joe Mason but, let's face it, there's no chance of him moving to you :ayatollah:

To be honest, I don't think Borini would cut it. Danny Graham has done a very good job this year. I feel our changes have too come wide. Despite some of Dyers play this year a lot of the time when he's on his own he ends up on his backside and I feel Sinclair HAS been found out and personally he does need a plan B if he is too progress in his career! These two have to recognise the importance of Sigardsson especially at home IF we manage too keep him of course. Which at 750k a place in the division will all depend on how high or low we finish.

Isnt Borini in Italy squad. Very good player. Sigardsson has been a massive signing-he has probably earned you 9-12 points in his short spell-if you keep him next season it will be a massive coup. The other key player has been Vorm who is in top 3 premier league keepers. He has saved a fair few points from what i have seen. De Vries must be gutted that he chose to be greedy and take a few more quid to sit on Wolves bench.
