MALKY NEXT SEASON

Tue Apr 10, 2012 4:29 pm

If the board back him enough, do you think that he will learn from this year and bring in that quality we need? e.g. pace, width, brilliant goalscorer, premier league experience...

Or do you think he will just do it the Malky way and bring in another 5 or 6 workhorses with not a whole lot of quality and will stick to the 4-5-1 at home, and sitting back after a 1-0 lead etc...

Thoughts? :ayatollah:

Firstly please lets not debate if we had money or not in Jan but looking at the three he wanted or we were linked with in January Noone, Phillips and Sordell then I think he knows what is needed.

He has done well with his signings this season and brought some good players in. if he can add a few next season which have pace we will be flying

We are going to need at least 11 new quality players in next season, in every position. Anything less & i can't see us progressing.

He'll have to learn.

As Cardiff City supporters we know that you need consistency throughout the whole season if we're ever going to get out of this league in a positive manner. Having 4-5 months of goodness before collapsing in the season's final third isn't good enough.

If Malky plans to sell a number of players, fine, but he has to have quality replacements lined-up straight away before adding further to that squad.

I really hope he gets 'it' next season. I really, really do.

I wasn't debating about the funds, but why leave it til the last few hours for Sordell and we had 2 whole loan windows before and after january. The loan signings were about as effective as a Terry Connor team talk

I agree we shouldnt have had loans, a waste of money.
Disagree about Sordell, we should have made the offer a bit later if anything.

But the point wasnt about the funds it was about the type of player, all three pacey players two of which play wide. I think that shows MM knows the problem.

We really need 2 or 3 wingers! Unless he uses Kadeem Harris, then only 2. He also needs a striker, a lethal one.

I think there is a "Blueprint" for promotion and it maybe prudent for us to examine this.....

Looking purely at the sides that have won the Championship, in recent years, the following stats interest me:

1) How big was the 1st Team Playing squad
2) How many minutes did each player play across the whole season. (Squad rotation, Fatigue, What is an ideal number)
3) How many goals did the main striker get
4) How many goals did the 2nd choice striker get
5) How many goals normally win you the title
6) How many goals does a title winning side normally concede

I think once we can answer these questions we can then compare this seasons stats to what normally would win you the Championship - and then be in a position to recruit accordingly.

Jesus christ thats a squad of 121, excluding the current first team :D

MM isn't daft. He knows what we need, he also knows that the better players/deals are available in the summer. He has established the spine of the team and the work ethic, next comes the flair/pace.

This was always a 3 year plan, not a 8 month one :ayatollah:

We could do with 4 lethal strikers. 2 that will get you 20 a piece and 2 good back ups. more pace on the wings and a new right back one who can deliver quality crosses. Mc Naughton is a great defender but his crossing and distribution of the ball can at times be woeful. Lots of rebuilding to do methinks - Rome wasn't built in a day - Patience is the key. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I'm excited about next season regardless of what division we're in. If Malky is given the funds then I think we're going to have a great season. the style of football we play takes a lot out of the players, hence why I think Malky has changed tactics the second half of the season, you can't keep it up all the way through. If the team and squad develops and gets larger then I'm sure we could keep up the early season form for an entire campaign.

CAN'T WAIT!!!!
