i don't know if i want to make the play-offs

Tue Apr 10, 2012 2:11 pm

As some of you will know i'm usually quite positive about all things Cardiff City but i can't handle the thought of making the play-offs again for what will almost certainly be another year of failure!
I haven't got over £200 to spend in watching go to wembley yet again either!

The facts are, we have lost our way completely recently. We have no shape in midfield and teams have worked out that if they leave Mcnaughton free, our players will give him the ball and he will give it straight back to them! This year has shown why kev had never had any approaches from premier league clubs. His distribution isn't good enough for league of wales let alone the premier league!

We seem to have completely run out of ideas. Before the crystal palace home semi final though our team lacked a few players with explosive pace we still played some decent football. Our play was built on squeezing teams high up the pitch and quite sharp, crisp passing when we won the ball. now, however every bit of snap and speed of thought seems to have been drained away by a long and gruelling season.
I honestly believe even if we do make the play-offs it will end similar to last season (though of course i'd love to be wrong).
I still believe we are on the right road with malky and i'm amazed how quickly people have forgotten the amount of work he has had to do in a short space of time.

I think it is absolutely imperative that malky adds at least 3 players who can go past a man in the summer. Conway showed yesterday in the short time he was on the pitch, the difference this can make to a team! the fact is, conway is the only man even willing to attempt beating his man in our whole squad (perhaps with the exception of kev who the crosses it over the bar!)

If we can add this flair in the summer i really believe we'll have a good go next season. When you think that since christmas we have stayed in the play-offs by just looking dangerous from set pieces!
Under Jones i think we scored from about one corner in 6 years! Now the only time we look like scoring is from a corner.
Hopefully (and i'm convinced he is) malky has got his scouts scouring europe looking for some players who are a bit more dynamic than the ones currently at his disposal. :ayatollah:

If we do make the playoffs we could endup shocking everyone lol we would probably be the least fancied out of the 4teams who make the playoffs so be just like us to go and win the thing when no one expected it to happen  stranger things have happen.

If we do make the play offs then we'll be the least expected team to get promoted, where as in previous years we have been favourites. Less pressure this year. :ayatollah:

Whos taken off Humblegringos rose tinted glasses when he was sleeping

Sounds like I have hacked his log-in.

For what its worth I feel the same. I just cannot see this side winning the play-offs. Stranger things have happened but I think a re-build in the summer would be better.

Even if by the grace of god this team got to the PL without an investment of 20/30 million we could get seriosuly embarrased with this team.

Same here. I honestly think we're too weak to win promotion via the play-offs, but I thought we'd lose 4-0 or more to Liverpool in the Carling Cup Final - and look how that day turned out! We lost with a great deal of pride and dignity and on another day, against a lesser side, we would have won. None of the teams in the play-offs are as tough to beat as Liverpool.

I've never thought that we were the finished article mate far from it. But i also dont think we're as far away as you do.
Like i said we're certainly more organised than we have been in recent years, and at the moment we look like we did in recent years when jay bothroyd wasn't playing.

I remember discussing with you earlier in the year about malky adding the necessary flair in the summer which would make us a decent team and i still believe that.

But at the moment i'd be amazed if we get promoted this season as the snap seems to completely gone and the decision making looks laboured. :ayatollah:
