GUNNARSSON'S LONG THROW-INS...

Mon Apr 09, 2012 6:05 pm

They rarely work, and are becoming a waste of time.

I'm pretty sure the last time a long throw-in resulted in a goal for City was when Gestede scored his first league goal back in October. October!

Also - since when did 'drying' the ball with a wet towel ever work? :?

Agreed.
It has been something I have been saying for the last 6 or 7 games.
It is just getting us anyway, and ends up with us usually losing the ball.
It is simply a waste and I don't understand why we keep using them.

We have nobody in the team to win the headers, we cant even get on the end of crosses (Apart from Miller today :ayatollah: ).
The solution is to slam the ball in the area low and hard and hope the ball deflects off a few legs before someone just taps the ball in the net.
Take Bristol City away as an example :ayatollah:

It's quite effective when he goes for the long throw then throws it short

^^^^ I think that is the whole point oif them, it drags the opposition around and they don know what to expect.

They are certainly a useful tool. Our equaliser in the Carling Cup final all started from his long throw that made the corners.

...but they might be a little more useful if we had a lump like Parkin in the box.

Disagree but I can see what your saying, we have looked threatening with them :ayatollah:
