McPhail - how important is he to us in the run in?

I think his presence is vital, he is the glue that sticks the team together. We are a much more balanced side with him in there.

Lost our way when he went off today, thought Malky changed our midfield too many times in one game, took Mcphail off too early IMO

We're always a better team when McPhail plays

I was going to start a thread about him, but this will do .
When he was out for ill health earlier in the year we struggled, now he is back, but only plays around 50 mins of a game. Of those average 50 minutes that he plays, we don't stress and we don't make mistakes. The moment he goes off, the shit hits the fan. The game on Saturday and today were text book examples of this. I don't know what it is about him, he clearly one of if not best in the league playing in the position he is, but the moment he goes we fall apart.
The key for us or any team in fact is to control the midfield, having him sitting a little bit behind the others is what makes our midfield in the time he is on the pitch. I just hope the guy gets through his problems and is with us for a little bit longer before his boots are hung up.

Thing is two games in 3 days would have took its effect on him more than others.

2 games in a week is going to be too much for him but we do need him to play as much as he can cope with in the remaining games. He has the experience, vision and he has the time on the ball and the midfield seems to play better when he is playing.

He looked gutted to be subbed!!

Maybe we should try a different tactic in the first half and bring Mcphail on in the SECOND half!!!
