well what happened to the other 4....we had 5 in midfield and still looked weak

I would go as far to say that McPhail is our best midfielder in terms of stability and shape. He doesn't get full games anymore, is it down to his well documented condition?

No, Watford and a number of others played on Friday giving an extra day rest/recovery. It may not be why we lost our way in the second half (I think losing McPhail just changed our shape and control) but it won't have helped

Malky had to change the shape when we lost Conway (our only natural wide player) to injury.

While Watford forced us back we had no wide outlet, the midfield was narrow and Kenny was isolated.
