Six Bells Near Abertillery

Wed Apr 04, 2012 6:04 pm

I'm popping over there tomorrow. Does anyone know if there's any decent places to eat or anything to see, apart from the memorial statue in honour of those who lost their lives in 1960?

Born and bred in Sixbells on the opposite side of the valley from the miners memorial. If your looking for food there are a few decent pubs which do food in Abertillery - The Commercial, Pontlottyn (Wheterspoons). Enjoy

Went up there last week to see the memorial statue and it well worth a visit, can't believe they haven't made more out of it than they have, would be a real tourist draw if they done a bit of PR.
Good place for a meal is down the road in Newbridge, just at the side of the big roundabout, there's a Marston's pub restaurant and it real good, called the Bumble Bee (tell them I sent you 8-) )

If you are there in the day then after visiting the Guardian head up the valley to Cwmtillery lakes - beautiful area.

If you are there in the evening and want to try a top class curry try Chillies in Mitre Street. If you don't think it's one of the best you've ever tasted I'll give you your money back myself ;)

Thanks, been and back home already. We popped to Abergavenny after the memorial. Never mind, we'll call again another day.
