O/T Grass fires in the valleys

Tue Apr 03, 2012 6:24 am

I've been a retained firefighter for 10 years, I've been on hundreds of grass fires over the years, kids have always burned ferns etc and I've never really complained about it, it's a busy time of year and I don't mind earning my pay.

BUT

What I've noticed over the last fortnight of dry weather, as these yobs have become more of a menace to society and have a lot less morales as youths of the past is they are hell bent on burning forestry blocks! I'm no tree hugger buts it's terrible to see forestry going up in smoke for the entertainment of some idiots who will no doubt go unpunished!

It is really sad to see. The yobs are scum of the highest order - pond life.
I also notice people seem to be chopping trees down for some reason too (leaving what they have cut next to the tree??) and I don't mean the forestry commision I mean ilegally.
