City v Cov: Proposed team line up/changes

Wed Mar 21, 2012 8:02 am

I think Malky has more than stapled a style of play by this point in his tenure with the club, and has also embedded a tactical awareness within his squad which should enable every squad member to know exactly what is required of them if called upon. Considering this, Malky should be able to make some changes for the game tonight without fear of us losing our shape he intends us to have etc. That said, I would like to see the following players given a rest tonight:

- Mcnaughton
- Taylor
- Cowie
- Lawrence
- Gunnarsson

I'd keep Miller in for one more game to play in front of the following players I would bring into the team as I believe they would create a lot more chances for him:

- Darcy
- Naylor
- Kiss
- Conway
- Mcphail

I would still play 4-5-1, and this would then be the starting 11:

- Marshall

- Blake
- Hudson
- Turner
- Naylor

- Mason (wing)
- Kiss
- Whitts
- Mcphail
- Conway (wing)

- Miller

This team would have the width we've been crying out for and the creativity in the middle that we've been lacking for what seems an age.

I thought that when I was writing it...it's genuinely what I would do though. All players that I listed for a rest have been pretty bad over the last couple of games and on form should not be in that team when there are perfectly adequate replacements waiting in the wings

Chuck Kedeem Harris and Conway in to give us some pace and width.

Wont happen but thats what I would like to see.

I forget about Harris. Fully agree, this stage of the season where full backs maybe losing a yard or so could well be a great opportunity to introduce young Kadeem to burn their heels.

Pace is desperately needed

Coventry are awful. We'll have no problems tonight whichever side we put out!

That doesn't matter how bad they are. its all about what team turns up on the night, look at forest last night. On paper we should win lets see what mind set we are in :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

-------------Marshall--------------
Blake----Huds----Turner----Taylor
------------------------------------
----------Kiss-----Whitts----------
Lawrence-----------------Conway
-------------Rudy------------------
--------------------Earnie---------

Massive 6 pointer on sunday and Kenny has picked up a knock on the ankle so it would make sense to rest him.
Also Mason on the wing doesnt work, neither does Lawrence in the centre so a change is needed.

Having looked at that team, that's what I'd go with too. Coventry are a traditional side in terms of formation (at least I think so anyway) so I can see no problems with a 4-4-2.

I did consider Rudy and Earnie but I just cannot see them creating any sort of meaningful play between themselves at all

Personally I only believe it can work because it's a big man/little man partnership
