I was amazed when I went up to Fulham on Saturday that the away end is also situated by what they call a "Neutral Area".
Basically, Fulham and Swansea fans with a mix of other people who just go along to see a match, no segregation, not a massive amount of stewarding, the police kept a low profile behind the stand and there wasn't a single issue as far as I could see. Both sets of fans sharing the same bars, kiosks, the whole thing.
I know that Fulham have a reputation as a family orientated club and everything but still, I was pleasantly surprised by just how smoothly the whole thing runs, surely a case of treating football fans like grown up adults and not animals and it works like a charm. Still a very strange thing to see people a couple of seats away from you going through the exact opposite emotions. Bizarre!

a few times this season at the C.C.S. we have had police free games and home(famillystand) and away fans get to mingle underneath in the concourse at half time and share the bars/facilities. admitedly it is only for the less risk games and the fans dont sit together but it just shows that the game has moved on.

Yep, times have certainly changed. As I take my boy to most games I'm all for it, but with no segregation in the stand, it made the atmosphere a bit strange.

i just wonder if Cardiff were ever to go to craven cottage would they just have us purely in the away section or allow us to mingle? i persnally think away end only, with over enthusiastic stewards and police and will be for a few more years to come.

Family club of the year, restrictions on your fans seem to be easing a little from what I read on here. You must be moving in the right direction. So far this season following the Swans, there were no pubs for away fans at Man City, then at Villa and Wolves, we had designated pubs, other than that, we have been pretty much allowed to mix everywhere. No travel restrictions at all. Saying that, I won't be able to make it to QPR and after running the gauntlet at that Springbok pub for the past two years, I'm not going to get too upset about it.

good to see things like this - football definitely moving in the right direction, even though some still want to try and re-live the 70's and 80's - I think they are the dinosaurs mind, and their time has gone now, thankfully

Must say i would rather have fans apart rather then together,,when we lose and i look across to see some one in ther end taking the pis and grinning like a cat there is only one thing going through my mind.
Yes its good things have changed, but football in this country as gone boring, you only have to look at europa games this season involving british clubs, were british fans home and away have been pathetic to be honest and our grounds are now full off the do good bregade who sit and have no passion.
Im not saying we back but we are losing our game and the fact that a club is letting fans mix is going to kill passion in the stands for good,,f**k that,im all for the days of running battles gone, but not the rivalry with who ever we play..
