"Can we get 19 points in 9 games"

Sun Mar 18, 2012 10:23 pm

We're currently on 58 points, and I worked out a few weeks back that the average points needed to reach the play-offs in the last 5 years is roughly 75. And with this season being tighter we will most likely need 1 or 2 more points to get there.
And with 9 games left there are still 27 points up for grabs.
19 points would leave us on 77, firmly inside the play-offs.
When you look at our remaining fixtures you'll see we have Cov, Watford, Barnsley, Millwall and Derby. 5 games that can be easily won, which can easily take us to 73. Then we have Palace on the last day, winnable, can take us to 76. Then we need to muster at least 1 point from Brum, Boro and Leeds, which I think is more than do-able.

So when you look at it that way, we have enough to reach the play-offs. But i'm not going to say if we will or wont untill after the Millwall game.

KEEPING THE FAITH (for now, anyway)

No chance, I don't think we will get 70 points the way we are playing , I hope I'm wrong

The problem is when you looked at our last 2 fixtures we would have expected at least 4 points from Hull and Burnley and in reality we got 1 :o Even if we beat Coventry thats 4 points from a possible 9 from 3 consecutive games which isn't good enough, however i agree with you that 19 points is possible but only if we get back to the form we showed earlier in the season and Kenny finds his scoring boots.

All we can do has supporters is keeping turning up in numbers and get right behind Malky and the team and you never know where we might end up ;) :ayatollah:

With a couple of new faces in the team, a bit of luck, some confidence and a run of form. It's possible.

Its going to be a tall order, however all we can rightly do is focus on the coventry game and make sure we come away with 3 points from this and look to the weekend on the back of a victory..

Think we will take 13/14 points from the last 9 games. Finish on 71/72.

just did the bbc predictor, and gave us 74 points  is that enough for the play offs ? though i really do believe that if we scrape into it 2 mins into extra time against palace  there will be no need to fear anyone in the play-off lottery :ayatollah:

Not unless we try something different and even then its unlikely.

Not enough quality.

No chance! We have far too many poor quality players.
