WILL MALKI BE HERE IN THE SUMMER

Sun Mar 18, 2012 9:25 pm

Just got back from my 2 hour drive and in that time I've had time ot think about this quite remarkable question. However it is not so remarkable when you look at football history.

A few seasons back Peter Taylor was manager of Leicester and in this particulat season, Robbie Savage played for them, he took them to the top of the premier and going into February they were well placed in the top 6. Then they went on a disastrous run that resulted in them finishing just outside the relegation places. For the following season they were made favourites to go down due to the bad run and the bookies got it right. For a more updated go back 3 seasons and look at Hull, same has happened to them. Both Leicester and Hulls stories resulting in their managers getting the sack.

I'm going ot refer to the Leicester story because I remember it quite well. Although I was working abroad my UK base was where I am now and I have always had an interest in the 3 East Midland teams. Our run at the moment is reminding me of the run Leicester went on. That season if there was say a couple more games to play Leicester could have quite easily gone down. Although I feel we are safe now from relegation if we continue to play the way we are at the moment we could end up pretty close to the relegation places. If this continues and we do a Leicester do you think the board or should I say the Malaysians will stick with Malki?

Malky definitely wont be sacked this year. If he doesnt get us in the top 10 next season, I feel he'll be off.

Is this a wind up?

Ok, lets put it this way. What would all of us had said if someone asked the question at the start of the season, "What do you think we should do if we just avoid relegation?"

Good question. Since I said I expected mid table this season, I would then wonder if Malky really was the man for the job.

P.S Di Matteo was my first choice, but I'm happy with Malky.

Ok Milly so if we end up just above the relegation zone.........because we could quite easily do that......what will your impressions of MM be then. Keep in mind we could go into next season as one of the favourites to go down.

Atleast your not over reacting
Firstly if I thought for a second we were going to end up just above the relegation zone I would think about it with a little more thought.
If we beat Coventry Weds we could go 4th :?

And if we lose to them?

As I said in my original post just look at what happened to Leicester.

If we lose I anticipate us to be 21st in the table, favourites to go down next year, and possibly the end of the world :D

Thats because DJ had money MM does not ,anyone who thinks any diffrent is a total fool, if we had money we would have had 3-4 good players signed and wrapped up way before jan so when the window opened they could have signed there and then, its not rocket science for anyone to see just after the start of jan we fell apart on the pitch in 95% of games

A few months back, confidence in the team would have us saying "when" we beat so and so, now it's "if" we beat so and so. This team would'nt score in a brothel at the moment, no goals in our last 3 home games. All Cov have to do is pinch a goal and it's good night vienna. Malky picks the team and the buck stops with him.

And there-in lies the problem. the 3-4 good players did not arrive because Malky was not backed in January. Do our board of directors think they will ever get a return on their money unless they flash at least some cash.

I know they are reputed to be outlaying £1.2m a month to keep the club afloat, but if that is the case then its even more justifiable to spend and get better players.
If the plan is to sustain Championship football and hope to get lucky like the Jacks did, then I'm very fearful of our future as soon we will be even more debt and in the bottom half of the league.

So you backed Ridsdale in spending money we didn't have in the hope of Prem money solving everything?

Jacks got lucky?

Like them or not, the Jacks achieved promotions spending a fraction of the money we did, with a business model that meant stay in the Champ wouldn't cripple them.

Until fans realise that short termism took us to the brink of going out of business, nothing will ever change.

Quite agree with your points, but unless Malky is backed to strengthen the team then we can kiss promotion goodbye for good. We were ideally placed in January to go up automatic at the end of the season - we'll be lucky to scrape into the play-offs at this rate.

If the Malaysians want a return on their gamble...er.. I mean investment, then they need to cough up and back the team.

Malky spent 2.5m on transfers and spending 23k a week on Miller and 18k a week on lawrence.

DJ beats Malky in every department except PR

Most of us would have accepted a top 10 finish at the start of the season. The unexpected happened and we were chasing an auto spot. Unfortunately that is highly unlikely now. So what about the other unexpected situation that most of us thought would never happen as we were up there?

That is what about if we drop down the table due to the fact we can not turn around this bad run. You know what they say when you are on a slippery road. What happens if we drop well below say 10th place, the place most of us would have accepted at the start of the season. Would people consider it a rebuilding season then? I think some will say we have not even produced foundations if we end up well down the table.

What will the Malaysians think if the unexpected happens?
