Whitts here next season?

Sat Mar 17, 2012 9:00 pm

Its not looking likely we will go up if we are totally honest, and with that in mind im expecting some interest from other clubs looking to take Whiits. Maybe one of the promoted teams, or the likes of Norwich.

Would you begrudge him a move to the PL? I wouldnt. Hes given us great service and the lad deserves to be playing at the highest level.

I think he would flourish in the Premiership amongst better players. Hes a ball player and will adapt to the PL just like the Swansea and Norwich ball players have. Some of QPRs players have struggled with the step but the likes of Derry are just workhorses they are not ball players like Whitts.

I think our only chance of keeping hold of him will be to get in the play-offs. If we go into freefall I cannot see him happy to play for a mid table Championship side if he has Premiership interest.

I f*cking hope so!

However, if he does leave, then I hope he doesn't go to Norwich. Hate the buggers.

Yeah he'll be off sadly, I can see QPR offering him big bucks if they stay up, will be lucrative with the wages and investment, plus their midfield is crap and Hughes will want to bring in some creativity, Barton and Derry are poor, Whitts with that Buzacky would have plenty of creativity.

Norwich maybe or perhaps West Brom? If he goes we need to try and milk it for as much as possible.

I dont like them, especially Delia Smith, but I like and have a lot of respect for Paul Lambeert. Proper football man.

His transfer policy of snapping up the best players in the division below might see him move for Whitts, although Whitts age might work against him as Lambert usually goes for younger up and coming talent.

exactly what i was thinking the last few weeks

he's head 'n'shoulders above everyone in our team right now . Only Mcphail comes anywhere close .

he deserves a crack in the prem that's for sure hopefully with us next season !

Can see him at Norwich or West Brom but not QPR. If they stay up I think Hughes will be looking to spend big on more established players.

Its a big IF mind, they are in freefall QPR.

QPR won't be staying up. Their run in is horrendous.

Hes two steps ahead of the rest of the players and I think hes carrying to much of a burden this season.

At least last season he had Bellars, Jay, Chops, Mcphail on his wavelength.

If he was played nearer to Kenny then I think Kenny has the football brain to be on his wavelength but Whitts is wasted in the sitting role for me.

Hes shown what he can do with some wonderful goals again this year when hes moved up the pitch so I dont know why we persist in sitting him in front of the defence.

They could still come down and buy all the Champs good players, wouldn't surprise me.

I seem to remember Juande Ramos playing Modric deep at spurs when he arrivedd, but Redknapp plays him much higher up and look, he is one of the prems best passers alongside Silva and Mata. Not saying Whitts is on Modric's level, but he needs to play higher up as an attacking centre mid, or even a number 10 to ensure he can thread quick balls through. This Malky playing style doesn't cater to him.

Id say more chance of Whitts going to QPR if they come down

40 odd goals in two seasons from wide / attacking midfield then shoved into the sitting role :?

Saying that Jones tried it last year and he scored most of those 40 odd goals for him so he knew more than anyone how good Whitts is when played further forward :?

Perhaps he is on 10k a goal like Peter Thorne and the board have instructed the managemnent to keep him in our own half at all times :D

:D

I agree on the advanced role/Jones point. Play him as a 2nd striker and shove Mason up front, **** the other 3.

polo i disagree i like whitts sitting infront of the back 4 .

it's his best position . To me he revels in that position and has scored a fair few goals again this season . No doubt Malky likes it too

I think we ain't got the right balance in midfield what with Mcphail being out for so long . Lawrence isn't the right answer either

but still 3 points tomorrow and i will be on cloud 9 :ayatollah:

Can't see Whitts moving to London - he seems to shun the limelight and the usual footballers excesses. He has never said he wants to leave us but it may be his last chance to establish himself in the prem if we don't go up, so no, I wouldn't begrudge him a move - just as long as its not to the Jacks.
