So many Welsh players are from England.

Sat Mar 17, 2012 12:47 pm

Anyone else a little annoyed at this? I knew a few players qualified through a grandparents or something but so many of the players who represent us do so through a grandparent.

So anyway, here's a quick list of players were not born in Wales yet were included in the Costa Rica game:
- Boaz Myhill
- Lewis Price
- Jason Brown
- Ashley Williams
- Sam Ricketts
- David Edwards
- Andrew Crofts
- Jack Collison
- Sam Vokes
- Hal Robson-Kanu
- Steve Morison

So of a 25 man squad 12 qualify through a relative. This kinda pisses me off if I'm being honest. How can we call ourselves Wales if so many of the players aren't from here?

Majority of our starting 11 are Welsh though..

Hennessey
Matthews/Gunter
Blake
(Williams)
Taylor
Allen
Ramsey
(Crofts)/Vaughan/Ledley
Bale
Bellamy
(Morison)

ones in brackets are English, we wouldn't do too bad without then but at the end of the day they are wearing the shirt for our country and makes me feel so proud! :D :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Earnie grew up in Caerphilly from a fairly young age...I would'nt include his name in this thread

Not born in Wales is the key here

Exactly. As long as they are all like Williams then there's no problem. He took the time to learn the anthem (which I'm not really bothered about, in terms of the players singing it) which deserves a lot of credit on its own!

If they qualify for Wales, then they are Welsh. What's the point of this nasty, little nationalist post?

are you two honestly arguing about this... Earnie's not from Wales nor England but still not born in Wales does it matter what the title is or what it says in the post can't change the facts

If they want to play for us and are qualified that should be good enough, as we dont have enough good players without them.
