National Sport Debate: Six Nations = Euro Champs of Rugby

Six Nations = Championship of Rugby, a competition that we qualify automatically for and is staged every year with this years 'final' effectively being staged tomorrow in Cardiff. 

Something tells me that if the Welsh Football Team automatically qualified for the European Champsionships and we reached the final, that was being held in Cardiff, then tomorrow would be a million times bigger and there certainly wouldnt have been any empty seats if we played the week before in the Millenium Stadium - yet people will still argue that Rugby is our national sport. 

There's a difference between what is our national sport and what we're best at on a national level - we're only better at rugby on the world stage cos it aint anywhere near as competitive as football. Attendances at football matches and participation throughout all levels all point to the fact that football is our national sport...but we all knew that anyways.

However I will say that occasions like tomorrow hold massive pride for our great nation and our achievements on the sporting field certainly put us on the map - I for one will be rooting for boys tomorrow. Welsh and proud
