A truly great Welshman.

R.I.P merv as you do being welsh, I was brought up listening to some great storys about the 70s welsh rugby team and the singing from the welsh fans in the old cardiff arms park! And although I'm not a big rugby fan, I'm still proud of our rugby heritage from back in the 70s here's hoping wales can emulate the great 70s sides by beating france saturday to make it 3grandslams in 8years

RIP Merv, one of the greatest of the greats. Lets hope they the boys pay the most fitting tribute tomorrow by winning the grand slam

Growing up in the seventys as a City fan but still loving the rugby, we had a great rugby team, and one of the greatest of an exceptional team was Merve the swerve, RIP big man our thoughts go out to your family, gone but never forgotten

Met "the swerve" once a few years ago at a local rugby club near me in London. True gentleman. Everyone, and I mean everyone in awe.

Talked about in the same breath as Gareth Edwards.

Will be sorely missed.

Can't say I'm a lover of the egg chasing but one of the only rugby matches i ever attened was cup semi final between Pontypool v Swansea in Cardiff Arms park back in 1976,it was Mervyn Davies final game as collapsed suffering from a brain haemorrhage, R.I.P Merv the Swerve.
