Malky, drop someone please!

Wed Mar 14, 2012 10:24 pm

OK, my thoughts on last night and what I would like to see happen for Burnley.

Malky has had my staunch backing all season, but am seriously raising my eyebrows at some of his decisions of late, mainly my surprise and disappointment at the lack of plan B and C (remind you of anyone?) we have been on TV a lot lately and we are there for all to see 4-5-1 everything through Miller and when we can Whitts too, everyone else going forward works tirelessly but without major fluidity, craft or penetration, no defence splitting runs or most concerning of all NO PACE. Predictable, maybe, which is why I support the return of Earnie and go to 4-4-2 with Miller and Earnie upfront and Conway and Mason supplying width with the encouragement to come inside. But he is seeming to be stubborn. Worrying. Some of the players maybe feel a safe bet on the team sheet every week, a message needs to be sent out and therefore some players should be dropped.

Any 2 or 3 from this list to be dropped and why. It may do them good in the long run.

Marshall - Distribution slow and poor, wayward at crosses. Heaton in.

McNaughton - Strangely looking like a little bit of lost confidence, distribution declining in quality and seems panicky on the ball, Blake in or Quinn if Blake goes to CB.

Hudson or Turner (not both) - Turner got totally done by Mclean last night, Hudsons distribution was terrible yet both were immense at Wembley? Someone needs to come deeper and get the ball off Hudson as he keeps hoofing it to the other team. Gerrard or Blake in.

Lawrence or Gunnarson - Too similar, and recently Gunnarson has disappointed me with his jogging up and down the pitch, a strange one this but recently something not right there. So Conway in for more width and fluidity.

Then theres Kenny Miller, for the wages he is paid and the goals he is scored has he been value for money? he works hard and plays with passion and really gets in there, but 10 goals is very disappointing and is slowly being remembered for his misses! However I would start with him and Earnie and give the partnership (for which I do have concerns) another go. Earnie sent out a message in his cameo last night, shoot at the target, work the keeper, he looked good last night.

I would like to see more of Vukic too. I am not that enuthiastic about Kiss and welcome Mcphails return despite being a critic of his! Something HAS TO CHANGE, it won't hurt to try! We have scored 6 and leaked 12 in the last 6 games!

So....
Heaton
Quinn
Turner
Blake
Taylor
Cowie
Whittingham
Conway
Mason
Miller
Earnie

Subs
Marshall
Hudson
Gunnarson
Lawrence
Vukic

i agree with none of this, except maybe bringing Conway in for Lawrence

i particularly disagree with dropping Marshall, who has been brilliant the last 3 games
and dropping Kev, who is BY FAR our best defender

In Malky I Trust :ayatollah:
