last night reminded me of the dungeon days

Wed Mar 14, 2012 6:03 pm

in that some of our fans gave it their all and sang continually in spite of a poor performance and result.the malkys barmy army chant was given a superb airing and reminded me of the days in which we sometimes kept it going for an entire 45 mins.for those of you fortunate enough to have been following city in the 80s they were at times very dire but we the fans always created a superb atmosphere, and i believe last night those that got behind the team played a part in creating am atmosphere us city fans were always famous for.a special mention should be given to the drum which gets better and better and the crazy gang that danced alongside it! you acted as an encouragement to the rest of us.keep the faith peeps whatever happens wer still privaleged enough to be supporting the best team on earth with the craziest and most passionate supporters and thats something that will never change :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

It's a pity our team didn't respond to the drum. Personally I thought the atmosphere was shit last night - especially 2nd half when most of the people around me walked out with over 30 mins to go.

In the old Days we didn't have a drummer,And at most games at Parc Ninian the atmo was shite when we was in the dungeon, And the atmosphere last night was utter utter shite. In fact my ear drums took a severe battering at half time with the Music so fooking loud. That during the game i was glad for peace and quiet   And in fact it was so quiet at one point i shouted "Earnie's gonna gey Ya" i am sure Malky fooking heard it with the rest of the ground  :D

the scoreline was like the dungeon days, I remember going away with city thinking anything less than a 3-0 defeat was a bonus we were that bad at times, and home games even a goal would make our day !!! lol, we have a new generation of support whom under Dave Jones regime has seen a time pushing for promotion and rarely getting smashed at home, Malky has continued this will be interesting to see what happen when more defeats may happen and how the new fans react to it. For me and many like me its been there got the t-shirt, we will keep on supporting regardless that samba dance drumming was wicked

i honestly have no recollection of any shit atmospheres but i think supporting city sometimes requires looking at things through rose coloured glasses :ayatollah: oh and the alcohols always good for giving one a false sense of well being :ayatollah:

i agree we didnt need much pleasing in those days! i suspect wel lose a fair few fans if we fail to nake the playoffs but hey the new fans have been somewhat spoilt considering what some of us had to endure in the dungeon having said that i wouldnt change any of it for the world :ayatollah:

I loved the dungeon days. It was days back then where I loved being a City fan. We all went to games knowing we were sh!t, but we all supported the team and when we had a bit of success there was no better place to be than Ninian Park, it was a great time to be a City fan. Being a fan back then and seeing City rise through the leagues was an amazing journey, but now we have fans leaving 10-15 minutes before the final whistle and giving up on the team who might not be playing well, but are still giving their all effort wise. Part of me wishes we were back in the old Division 4 with fans who went to the game with one goal - supporting the team and getting our ground bouncing.

I can't get my head around some of our so called supporters these days. They all jump on the bandwagon for Wembley, then when we go back to the bread and butter league games and things don't go our way, they have a rant criticising everyone and leave games early. If these supporters are only happy watching a team winning, they may as well not bother going to Cardiff games at all and watch Man Utd or Barcelona on tv instead, they might be happy and decide to actually watch the whole game then.

unfortunately its a sign of the times people want instant success and will leave a place very soon if its not happening.the thing i find hard to swallow is the looks i now get when im cheering the boys on,some of the newbies really are a different breed each to their own and im not critisising them but i dont appreciate the daggers i get for doing what ive been doing for the last 30 years. :ayatollah:
