We`re poor enough in the English league at the mo, god help us if we got into Europe.

FAW seeks route into Europe for Cardiff and Swansea !

What would you rather do, fa cup and carling cup or get a very goo chance at Europe ? :ayatollah:

It would be a disaster.
The club may as well join the LoW if they are going to do this as we would never be even a medium sized club.

So hope this comes off. Would rather follow City in Europe a few games a season than just play to survive in the Premier League.

Welsh Cup ALL THE WAY for me

We've won the FA Cup and NEARLY won the Carling Cup so let's give the English a chance and go back to our roots.

WELSH CUP WINNERS 2013 sounds fantastic!!!

It would financially ruin the club from progressing.

I bet once we got into Europe people would want more players to compete :|

I fully agree, would love to go Europe with City. Was too young to make the trip to Liege etc. The fact we were so close to Europe was far worse than missing out on the Carling Cup few weeks back.

Agree 100% on both counts mate. I was just a bit too young for Liege myself.

Firstly no guarantee we would win it, beating Swansea is hardly a forgone conclusion.

Being in Europe would be great for a couple of years but fans would soon get bored of travelling around europe spending thousands of pounds and getting our asses kicked.

Would we get many in for the welsh cup games? of course not, 1000 if lucky maybe.

Massive loss from the Carling Cup and FA Cup games each season.

The sponsorship and TV revenue for a team entering europe through the welsh cup is very minimal.
The sponsorship and TV revenue for a team entering europe through the English route is huge.

People will say its not about money and I tend to agree but to me this would be trying to gain something for the short term and ruining everything in the long term.

The Welsh FA should have taken up this fight in 1995, not now. Both Cardiff and Swansea have made massive strides since then and all this story is, is a token gesture from the FAW as they can see their two big clubs slipping away from them.

Both Cardiff and the Swans should extend the middle finger to the FAW as quickly as possible, join the FA fully as we play in their system and be done with it.

On the plus side the FAW have been fairly leniant to their biggest member over the years. :old:

Cant remember what game it was but we got dealt with by the FAW, and I think it was Reading, got done by the English FA and we got off much lighter.

Didn't you get a suspension overturned for the FA cup final as well?

If the FAW honestly wanted to have links with Swansea and Cardiff, then get the youth teams (under 19/21's) playing in the League of Wales, they still play in the youth Welsh cup! Swansea and Cardiff youth teams getting half decent competitive games, probably bigger crowds than the dross that they've got in there now and more than likely finishing top 2 every season.

Not a bad idea.

Might hinder their development though.

Possibly, back to the Point about the FAW trying to get Cardiff and Swansea back into Europe, I personally wouldn't fancy that plan at all. It'll come back and bite one of us on the arse in the future. At the moment, if not for the overall poor discipline record for the Premier League, then the Swans could have been aiming for a fair play spot, and you were a penalty shoot out away from getting their yourselves? We don't need the FAW anymore and they know it, this is their last throw of the dice to keep us in the fold.

No thanks.

If Shrewsbury can knock them out of a cup, then so can we

totally agree Jonathan ford is only trying to make the faw look good
How many would turn up when we get drawn against some team in the middle of Transylvania probably a lot for the away leg but for the home leg less than for a 1st round league cup tie. We will also be giving up the chance to ever play any of the big teams in the cup again.
