We had four central midfielders playing last night and no wide men! We are screaming out for some width to attack down the flanks but it isn't coming! McNaughton needs help on the right side and i can count on one hand how many attacks he has made in the past 5 games.
Whittingham isn't worthy of his place on Sunday and neither is McNaughton, Hudson and Cowie. In my opinion, bring in Kiss, Blake, Conway and Gerrard to liven up the team. I'll be shocked if we keep the same lineup as we did last night because what will that be showing the rest of the squad??
Formation wise, we have been found out with the 4-5-1 system. I'd prefer to go back to a 4-4-2 or even try a 4-3-3 to make us seem more attacking. The lone striker at home just isn't good enough when you're fighting for promotion. Hoof ball doesn't work with Miller but this 'tatic' is still used.
And bringing on Earnshaw for Miller, what was the point?? It was a like-for-like subsitution which pretty much meant no change. And the fans need to stop living on past glories and realise Earnshaw is not the player he once was. Chanting for Earnshaw to come on isn't going to motivate or lift the team in any way.
As for Burnley on Sunday, if things don't change, then may god help us...
