All this love in with McNaughton......got me thinking.
Is he as good as all the hype? Or is he one of those City players who, regardless of what they do or don't do, will always be a crowd favourite?
Don't get me wrong. I can see why he is a favourite. It's always been the same at Cardiff. Even players with litte talent will be a favourite so long as they are seen to give 100%.....and McNaughton certainly does that. And he is a willing (and talented) overlapping full back with good feet. And tracking back with a winger, he invariably gets his tackle in. And he reads the general play well. And he has good enough pace over 5 yards.
HOWEVER, how many times will you find him ball watching under a cross from the other wing. If you were a forward playing against him, how easy is it to go short then drop off him and leave him 'under the ball'? It's been loads of times this season and cost us loads of goals. Add the number of time Hudson goes short only to find the ball over him to the forward who has a position on his right shoulder and that's lots of goals which we can save on the training ground.
Watch him.
I love him, like,,,,,,,,,,,,not sure I would let him shag my wife, though!!

Not sniping, buddy. Been down the City since 1966.......watched plenty of shite worse than this lot, I can promise you!!....and NEVER booed or hassled our players.
Just an observation, really. It's funny that we conceed silly, preventable goals from balls angled over the top. With a time served centre half as a manager!!

He could shag my mrs all day long if he wants to be honest!
I saw him come in for a bit of flack for the 2nd Brighton goal last week yet I thought Hudson was just as culpable. Realistically nobody has ever really questioned him until this season, I just feel that because we had a bit of a hairy run recently that folk are looking for scapegoats(not aimed at the OP I may add - just in general of late).

'Super' Kev has been and is a great servant for Cardiff City FC. He has been of outstanding quality supported by the fact that he regularly picks up MOM awards and been voted player of the season. He always gives 100%. I would not say that his crossing is the best but all players have a dip in their performance occasionally. They cannot perform at the highest level all of the time.
I still have confidence in his performance and I would rather him there than Darcy. Quinn has been a bit unlucky not to feature this year but without doubt Kev is the best right back at the club.

He's not the best at going forward, he's not the best at long passes, he's not the best in the world running at players with the ball, But he defends bloody well! Shows incredible ammounts of stamina and is better than MANY of this leagues full backs! Give him a break mun. He does his job. Also, I want silver hair tooooooo!

I agree.......when he has the ball in sight in front of him. Just loses his marker too often under the ball. Again the only reason for the question was to highlight that Kevin and Hudson's propensity to do this should be easy to sort out on the training pitch. If I were opposing manager, I would pump angled crosses over hudson and behind Kevin all day long!

I wonder if he is under a bit more scrutiny at right back because we actually have a left back this season - teams have been targetting our left back for the past 3 season - sorry Nayls,Kennedy,JLS - harsh but true in my opinion!

I love McNaughton but he can be a weak link, very much a Championship full back if we do go up I'm afraid RB is one area we would have to strengthen. He gives the ball away too cheaply too often, compare that to Taylor who hardly ever gives the ball away. It's difficult as like I said I love him, most of us do, can't ever fault his attitude or effort

If he was as good as you want him to be, do you think he would be playing for us... No! He would be playing premier league football for a top club (possibly top 6). So leave it out and just support the team!!

Wish you had this attitude towards Kenny
Kev is a good old fashioned work horse. He puts the shift in, puts his body on the line and is defensively solid. Attacking? He's decent. Well paced, can pick a short pass but thats about it. His overall distribution is poor and he will be the first to admit that its what he aims to improve. Still, he is one of the most under rated RB's in the division and i would personally rate him highly in the list of "The Best" right backs in the league.

He's been shit and a liability the past 6 or 7 games. Time for Blake to come into the frame.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm??!
Simple enough ball into box. Kev puts himself (!) out of position and heads in, not under pressure.
Can't be arsed to start another thread, so.......
Gunnersson. In a comfort zone and does not give the team enough on the ball. Malky should have pushed him on at 2.0 down.
whittingham. Too fecking slow. They were easily lined up 2 x 4 by the time he got the moves going. Fecking shape up!
Miller. Feck his 'workrate'! Get in the fecking box!! Earnie got 3 shots away. 2 on target in 5 minutes!
Lawrenson. Always liked him. Must be puzzled how ineffective we are. Gave it away but give him a chance.
Mason. Trots about without pulling defenders out of position.
Cowie. I'm sure he has more talent than we get to see.
Defence........too fecking slow!!!
marshall. MoM and we lost 3.0. Says it all for me.
Malky has morphed into Moans!!!! FFS, when you are 3.0 down, f*cking change something. Anything!!!!
Tue Mar 13, 2012 11:22 pm
Gotta give it to Kev......Fantastic own goal
To header a ball thats on the floor.....Now THATS talent
