Don't have a link but I've been told by someone at the Football League Awards that Peter Whittingham has won the Goal of the Year competition for his strike vs Barnsley last year.

Rickie Lambert has won Championship Player of the Year. Slighty Unfair as 1) He just scores Goals while Whittingham's overall play is second to none scored great and crucial goals and helps set up goals 2) There's 11 Games left and i for one would think this should be held at the end of the season as its a long way to go. But just want to say Well Done Whitts for his Fantastic Goal against Barnsley and Rickie in scoring 21 League Goals in his first Championship Season as well as Three Hat Tricks.

I queried this and was told it was for the year(2011) which means Rickie Lambert won it for half a season in the championship? I find that bizzare. If it's for the season, then surely it should be held after the business end of the season? I'm rather confused over it all now. Regardless, Whitts should have won it. He's twice the player of the other two candidates.
