Bristol City re visited around 1990

Sat Mar 10, 2012 1:29 am

I remember in a drunken haze a trip there around 1989 when we ripped down their turnstiles and before the Andy cole hat trick hat trick in early eddie may days, we went back there around 1990 and charged a gate / fence through and the chavs in the stand in the Bristol end backed off and retreated back for their own safety before the old bill got involved :ayatollah:

the 89 game was when the gates got charged and turnstiles done, that same season in the home game bristol opened the grange end gates and came out and had a go!!the andy cole hatrick was a coca cola cup game i think in 90,the bristol games in them days were better than the jack ones on times :ayatollah:

Andy Cole absolutely destroyed us that game. didn't he score 4. I'm sure it was later than 1990

Your hazy memory of that game has clearly got worse with age..... Cardiff broke open the gates between the away end and the Dolman Stand and a hundred or so burst through on to the concourse of that stand before being run back in extremely quickly by City. There were a few Cardiff stragglers (one I particularly remember in an Aran jumper) who got a bit of a hiding for their troubles. There were about ten coppers and three police horses by those gates who were powerless to stop anything happening. That game was in April 1990 and City won 1-0. After the game Cardiff smashed up the away end and it was pretty lively when they eventually let you out.

The Andy Cole game was in August 1992 and was equally as troublesome, but my memory does not recall any 'chavs' (bit rich coming from you lot) getting done.

Remember it well, walked up from Temple meads, scuffles all the way up. There was a park, i think, behind the away end, lots of fighting up there and because it had been absolutely pissing down some of the boys were covered in mud from wrestling with Wurzels on the grassy knoll
