Do you know whether Earnshaw will actually be in the squad tomorrow or not?

McPhail will be in the 16 next week.
Badly missed.Hopefully we will concede less late goals with him in the side.

Cant see Steve Mcphail playing , dont think we have any problems in midield anyway ... also dont think Ernie is the answer to our prayers... stick with kenny, got a feeling he will come good and bag a couple of goals on sat :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Atleast we dont have to put up with another innept performance playing upfront so im glad hes out the guy couldnt hold his own socks up let alone a football, his touch is like ted bundys and my 86year old nan could probly out jump him on headers. mcphail's been back in training 3days two of which spent in the gym, so who knows maybe he might get some mins on the pitch off the bench :ayatollah:

I disagree. The way we have been gifting possession back to the opposition lately, I think we are sorely missing McPhail. If McPhail plays, this also allows Whitts to push further forward. McPhail brings some calmness and composure to the team, he puts his foot on the ball, slows the game down and gives our team a breather and allows us to retain possession.

Personaly I think when we slow the game down, it gives the opposition time to get everyone behind the ball and then we cant break them down due to our lack of width, I want to see us playing high tempo, dont need to take a breather... thats where we were fitter than most sides earlier in the season, lets get back to it :ayatollah:

Little unfair regarding holding the ball up and his heading? Against Liverpool and other matches he rarely gifted the ball to opposition like some players did, and most arial battles he won. He just doesn't have the best of first touches or eye for goal tbf....

His heading was terrible against Liverpool. Atleast three quarters of them either went to dead space or to an opposition player's feet.

think he has been raring to go since xmas! maybe before. he must be in the match day squad and brought on if required.

kenny is working hard but not scoring. miller 32 apps 10 goals, earnie 12 apps 4 goals..

earnie has a knack of sticking the ball in the net. you can have all the work rate in the world, but goals win games!!

I do agree I would love us to hit teams on the break with pace, but unfortunately we have no real pace in the team. Also, we need to be able to keep the ball to be able to get at teams and at the moment, we seem to be getting dominated possession wise in midfield. Teams know if they shut Whitts down, they are on the front foot. I didn't go to Brighton, but it seemed like Brighton controlled the majority of the game and we were trying to contain them, which is fair enough playing away from home. The problem is this happened against West Ham and has been happening for our past few home games. We are playing like the away team all the time trying to contain the opposition, working hard, closing down, chasing the ball, but we simply cannot keep playing this way.

So many of our players tired and cramped up in the final because Liverpool had the majority of the possession and we had to chase the ball more. I think McPhail will resolve this, McPhail possesses that calming influence, he slows the game down, allows us to have a breather, keeps possession, then demands the ball again and keeps things ticking along. He allows us to control games and is vital to us imo. Think back to the influence McPhail had when we beat Barnsley at home, we played some breathtaking football that day, and McPhail was the focal point, everything went through him and look at the difference in our performance when he got subbed. All our good football disappeared, we no longer controlled the game and Barnsley came back into the game with a couple of late goals.

Phil Dwyer has more chance of playing than Earnie! Gestede out , Earnie out of favour , Miller out of form , MM out of touch - dare I add out of his depth !!?!

If we had Messi there are some on here who would want Earnie.

If we had Jose Mourinho some would hark back to DJ days,

No pleasing some.
