Cardiff V West ham no edge to it

Tue Mar 06, 2012 8:27 pm

Not sure what our older fans make of it all. Being a near 40 something the visit of West Ham would in the days gone by always produced an electric atmosphere, great banter between the fans, a real edge, sometimes spilling over off the pitch. Sunday came and went, West Ham came and went and it was no different to playing any other team in our plastic lego stadium. It was cringeworthy with the best we could manage was "stick your bubbles up your ass" lol , I wonder what the old skool iron fans would have made of it all. :?

Pompey/Millwall/Bristol C /Plymouth/Boro and now Westham all cant believe how Cardiff has lost its atmosphere so much and are stunned by it, they say all the banter etc has gone since the new stadium.

A few lads I know just do the away games now and you can understand it Annis, home games are becoming a boring affair we turn up through habit wishing the clock could be turned back. :? Ironically some of the home games have actually been loud and bouncing doesnt appear to be any consistency whatsoever. Although I would add midweek games seem to conjour a better noise being generated

Only word I can think of for it is EMBARRASING.
We let West Ham have a right old sing song and we just stood there and watched. I felt terrible standing there looking back at the Canton to see a load of slapped arse faces watching the game. And whenever there was one or two singing - including me - I would have a glance back to see people doing f**k all.
The Canton and the Grange need to be swapped if there is to be atmosphere and banter. But i'm not going to go into all that rubbish...

Evidence that I support United, Prick?

But I witnessed first hand what Legoland was like on sunday and you know as well as me that it was shite.
And you were probably one of those who like to sit there and complain when someone stands. If you were even there....

Oooo look at big man Polo giving it the big 'un on a MB.
I've been going down the City regularly for the last 5 years, which if you ask me isnt too bad for a 16 year old from the valleys who has to make the journey every other week. So I dont know where you got this 'plastic manc' bollocks from
And I never claimed to bell telling you about what football us all about. Just stating how shit our ground is. Nothing like Ninian Park. And yes, I do remember Ninian Park as a football ground and it was a lot better than the shite we play in now. But unfortunately thats football

I take on board the point you make there with not many singing, Worrying when I looked down from the back of block 105 in Canton and row and row and row and row of people not clapping, singing or doing anything. I wonder if we got duracell bunnies in there sometimes and they charge their batteries for certain games and leave their batteries out for others lol :ayatollah:

You are pathetic. I the only time I've wanted them to win a game for the last 4 years was against Swansea. Nothing remains of my United days except my programmes as memorabilla. And I've kept programmes from every match I've been to. Even Torquay vs Cambridge, and thats not exactly spectacular is it

Proper Loyal you eh.

I hope you dont ditch Cardiff as quick as you dumped Utd.

Ninian Park was shit mate.

I been going since 1989.

In all that time there were probably 15-20 games when the atsmospherE was good.

The rest of the time it was shite and a morgue, just like CCS.

It was not shite and since 1972 I had a season ticket there and loved it, it had over 30 years of shite football, as soon as a big club came, it was something special. I LOVED NINIAN PARK, I DETEST THE NEW IKEA FLAT PACK. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

You as well?
I supported Utd when I was a KID and didnt know any better, which is the same as most KIDS in my area. But as I got older I've been supporting City. As it said in an article someone posted earlier, when people get into their teenage years they start to think for themselves and usually start to support their local club. Which is my scenario. And you cant question my support as I've payed for season tickets for the last 3 years myself since we moved across Sloper Road. The 2 seasons before I averaged about 15 games a season. And I've been to every home cup game and friendly since 2009. Next year I'll be travelling to away games as well.

Annis.

I am talking shit in terms of atmosphere.

It was on a par with the CCS 90% of the time.

Especialy when the away team brought a small following, If people are honest they will admit that Ninian Park was like a library most weeks just like CCS unless we played a team with a large following, or someone with a bit of spice, Birmingham, Millwall, the usual suspects. In that respect, Ninian Park was no different to CCS which has had good atmopsheres this season when the away team has bought a good following, ie Southampton and Palace to name 2 this season.

I remember taking a mate to Norwich Home under Dave Jones and we sat in Upper Grandstand Block A, Norwich had about 500 fans and the place was like a morgue.

I stand by what I said, Man City, Leeds, Millwall, West Ham Carling Cup, Stoke Play Offs, Bristol City and Swansea Games were all good at Ninian, but when we played the likes of Peterborough with a 200 following, or Doncaster etc etc, the place was no better than the CCS is now IMO.
