" Closing Down - Tiredness "

Some fans do not accept that any of the City players are jaded and tired with the lack of depth in the squad and no rotation. There have been articles in Walesonline over the past two days which also flags up this issue.

Earlier in the season we were hounding our opposition and we didn't give them the time on the ball. As a result we were not conceding many goals. Look at the last 6-8 games and the amount of goals that we have conceded. We do not just go bad overnight. It was clear in the West Ham game that we were not closing their players down like we did with other teams earlier in the season. As a result they had more time on the ball.

In contrast a 'fresh' West Ham team gave us very little space and beat us at our own game. Some of the players were jaded/tired and some could do with a rest. They will come back stronger and hungry for the game again. :ayatollah:

I raised it as an issue then as wellpuely because I thought that it was an issure with the lack of depth in the squad.

77 i'm fed up of your constant bleating (if i had said that i would have been told to f**k off etc).
There is a massive difference between what the original poster said and you calling the team shit etc all the time.
I'm always up for a proper football debate and i'm also more than willing to talk about our teams strengths and weaknesses.
I agree 100% with what the original poster wrote but i have got no time for someone who is constantly slagging of our team, management and owners!
I have never said we've got a squad capable of attaining automatic promotion this year. On the contrary, i have always said we'd finish around 10th. The difference between me and you is that whereas you want the board to gamble and spend money this season in order to get premier league status (and if it fails possibly end up without a club), i am more inclined to slowly build a team that ready to challenge for the premier league whilst reducing the historical debt!

That first line sums it all up! The amount of people shouting around me to "chase it down" or '"run after it" when the ball was literally with Rob Green or their centre halves was unreal! Need a team of Cowie's to do satisfy some people!

Pre season i went to Treforest for the Q&A session with Malky who was asked how he liked his teams to play and he said 'he liked to press the opposition high up the field and when we lose possesion to pressurise to win the ball back as quiclky as possible then break quickly on the opposition'

Up until very recently this was exactly how we were playing pressurising and not giving the opposition time on the ball but it was noticeable in the Blackpool and West Ham games that this was not the case and this has got to be down to the players being slightly jaded or carrying knocks coupled with games coming thick and fast which is preventing us playing with the same high energy we had earlier in the season :(

Still believe our players are giving everything but just haven't got the fitness or energy that they had previously but i believe if we get another striker on loan along with the acquisition of Lawrence and Vucktic on loan and with better use of our squad players like Darcy and Earnie we can get back to where we were :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I know I am in the minority but I don't think its much to do with tiredness 2/3rds into the season. Teams have sussed us, its our lack of options that is killing us. Teams are clogging up the middle of the park to stop us threading balls to miller, as they know we can't go around the outside.

When we play 5 in midfield we can afford to challenge higher up the pitch, so all our midfield were chipping in with goals.
In our 442, Whits is being asked to do a lot more of the dirty stuff, which although he is trying is not his game.

Tomorrow, without Rudy i think we will revert back to the pre christmas formation and try to grind a 1-0 out.

Totally agree, the players have done us proud with the commitment they have shown this season and getting to a Wembley final. Just a bit of strengthening over time and we will be there. We have some young talented players players in the squad. A bit more quality and depth and we will get there. We still have a chance of the play offs but however it pans out the players have done great this year. :ayatollah:
