The good old British "Pint" DEBATE !!

Mon Mar 05, 2012 6:06 pm

Yesterday when i was around Canton having a few Jars with my good mates i was constantly asking the bar staff to top my pint up as it was well short of the full pint. The Landlord of the Canton cross even looked at me like i was a right moaning tw*t  . But the weights and measures act says the Pubs have to give a full pint of LIQUID for which froth is not.
Now the breweries says you can give a head which totally contradicts what the weights and measures says. Looking around everyone seems to except not having a full pint :o But are you being short changed ?.
What do you think ? Do you ever ask for your pint to be topped up ? or do you say nothing but think that is not right. Or do you think i am being fooking silly as Landlords need a break and it aint to much to ask to loose a little bit of your pint. Now i have seen dozens of fights due to a bit of beer being spilt after being bumped into.
DEBATE LADS !!

Most pint glasses have a line which marks where the pint is.. and the rest above it should be froth... but alot of people dont realise that...
i hardly ever ask for a pint to be topped up personally, unless it is half a pint of froth!

I checked my pint glass each time yesterday and not one had that line. That line is a good idea but they are not as common as you would think Chief.
But in short you are happy to be short changed ? If you was knowingly short measured by up to 10% on petrol you would be up in arms :!: :!: :!:

i hardly ever drink so dont get the problem lol...
but as ive been brought up in pubs i know it is a little money maker, (only when its busy!!)
pubs even do it with shorts... when they put the glass up to the optic... they take it away before the optic has emptied...

I saw you in the pub in Ruislip before wembley ask for your pint to be topped up when it looked full and being honest I was surprised!!

By the look of the face of the bird who served u that pint, It was as though u asked her to drop her nipple into it :ayatollah:

I never check to be honest but will keep an eye on it !!!!
But fair play if it was petrol as u say or something similar we would moan.

And with the prices they charge for a pint nowadays it should be...........a pint.........which I believe is 568ml.

I'll phone the pub in Brighton and warn them your coming :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Right, lets put this straight, It is only clubs that have to have lined glasses, as in clubs pints are from a measured pump, or as the members own the club the liquid is filled to the line, pubs can have lined glasses but it is not against the law not to have them. It's a matter of personal taste, if a landlord gave me a pint filled to the top with no head on it, I would take it back, as I dont like my beer as flat a a wiches tit.

Julian the pint in Ruislip was about 5% short. So it wasn't a pint. Now if you have 400 in there and say they each have 4 pints on average, How much profit has that Landlord made on short measures ? :o  :!:

Ps it's the inland revenue who make the extra profit as the say that all that froth is taxable

Chief i was watching them yeaterday and the glass is tilted and that way you dont get a head. At the end they put the glass (Plastic if you are in the Ninian  ) upright which then gives the head on top. Nowt to do with a flat pint.

Yes but you know the price of a football ticket and you know what you will get.
But with a pint if you pay £3.50 for a pint which is 568 ML. If you only get 500ML then you are being ripped off. But us good old Brits just put up with it. :o And Lee (BOW) when you have Bow do you get your Full pint ?

I always buy my match day drink from tesco.

Taking it into pubs makes it taste much better and everytime i finish a drink I smile broadly knowing that i have just "mugged off" the brewery.

Qualiteeee :ayatollah:

DOH if you want a flat pint you take the sparkler off (that is the nozzle for you) I used to keep a pub and tilting the glass makes sure that you don't get a glass full of froth as you fill the glass up you straighten the glass so then you have a nice head on top, you can put any type of head depending how you fill the glass, its obvious you don't understand what I am on about

ps dont look to hard at bar staff because there are loads out there that cannot pull a decent pint, if ever you want me to show you, just ask

i'm with you on this one nuke's
if you went to a cafe and ordered 3 sausage egg n chips, and when it came out you only had 2 sausage you'd complain, right?

Re: The good old British "Pint" DEBATE !!

Thu Mar 15, 2012 2:33 pm

depends on personal taste I guess.
Having worked behind a bar for many years I tend to find people want a head on the pint beer or lager.
leaving a bit of head on it if people complain it can then be topped up, but having no head and a flat as f**k lager and someones complains ends up in wastage.
Personally unless its an absolute shambles I dont complain.

But just because at the end of pouring a pint they untilt it and they give it a swirling motion to put a head on the pint. They can give a little head on the pint without loosing 10% of the liquid.
Would you except this pint ?
Lag.jpg

But the head is not a liquid and if left would disappear. But you are still short by say 5 to 10%.
