McNaughton.

Very poor defending for 2 goals. He's been average all season, just isn't good enough for a team aiming to get promoted.
We should look to move him on in the summer and improve at RB.

Haha! You must be fu*%^ng joking.....right? :?

The guy is a legend - he has had a poor run of form as of late but so has every other city player.

Just out of interest how many games have you been to this season? Because he has been MOTM in adleast 10 games this season for me.

Gosh, some "fans" really need to wake up...

I think the problem is that he is trying to do to much.
Certainly the best RB we have even when out of form

Really ? I can't actually remember more than one or two games that he's really stood out in. Ok selling him on is a bit drastic! But he's had a bad time of late and there's no wonder why people are shouting about giving Darcey or Quinny a go...

His distribution is woeful at times although he makes up for that with his tackling and work ethic.A must keep from me. :ayatollah:

I like Kev, but I have never seen a man panic so much with the ball at his feet

Merlin,

Look at the match stats and MOM ratings this season, I can guarantee that at the start/middle of season McNaughton was always in the running. As someone has said below, his distribution/crosses is woeful at times but he does make up for it in other areas.

I have already said he has been poor the last couple of games... but to have so called "fans" on here wanting to sell arguably our best player (whitts apart) in the summer, begs the question, how many games does he actually watch?

i dont think he panics, i just think he's not as good a passer as our other defenders

but he is by far the best at tackler, he very rarely (with yesterday being an exception) gets beat by a winger down his side, he works so hard up and down the wing, makes driving runs which open up space when at his best, and makes enough last ditch challenges in matches throughout the season to probably win us about 10 points?

i think he is absolutely outstanding, our standout defender

although i will admit he was poor against West Ham, but who hasnt had a poor game this season

Kev has a had a few bad games but lately he seems to have become another scapegoat for fans. The Brum game in December is probably one of the worst performances I have seen from him. Yesterday, I don't think he was any worse than some of the others. Yeah, he was slack with a passback and Marshall did well to save and he rightly got lambasted for it. Seconds later, Whitts almost done the same thing but it's hardly been mentioned.

The team underperformed yesterday, not one or two players.

Sorry but the one player bang out of form for me is Whitts and has been since Derby away which was his best game. Yes he shows a moment of brilliance but ever since i gave him the "He does what he wants" song he has been not so impressive.

Those views are totally mine and do not include the Carling Cup final for which he was superb and so was Super Kev but i also agree Kev at the mo is bang out of form and to show my disgust i have stopped him shagging my Wife.

My opinion is witts and even gunnarson are wasted when we play two upfront, they are to restricted. When we have a mcphail or kiss behind them it gives them more time and more freedom.

I actually agree with the original poster. Kev has always been a good defender for us but i have seen sunday league players with more ability on the ball.
He rarely finds a blue shirt and often runs into blind alleys. i dont want to be too critical of him cos he's been a smashing defender and an excellent servant of the club, but with the system we play where our full backs give us our width and only real outlet kev is just not the answer. in my opinion if we had hoyte from middlesboro as our right back a lot of this seasons draws would have been turned into wins. :ayatollah:

McNaughton is a class act - I thought he was very unlucky for the second goal yesterday as the ball fell very kindly for the West Ham player to take in his stride.

I am clearly an idiot........he has been our worst player recently. The only player on the pitch who was totally out of his depth in the Carling Cup Final.

You must be shitting me!! He had Downing and Enrique up against him nearly all match! Arguably the best left-sided partnership in the premier league. He dealt with them amazingly well. He has been poor in the league but I thought he was quality in the Carling Cup considering who he had coming at him. Not sure what you were watching...

Never been into this 'Super Kevin' thing myself. Always thought of him as an ok, decent average player. Prone to too many mistakes in my opinion to be rated any higher. Passing is atrocious including his final ball after one if his surges down the wing. Easy to understand why he can't get in the Scotland team and why we have had no problems keeping him because no other sides above us appear to have ever shown any interest in him.

Hate to break this to you but Conway has always played on the left in front of Andrew Taylor

Re: McNaughton.

Mon Mar 05, 2012 7:13 pm

He's been far too exposed lately since we've been playing Mason on the right wing.

I think Mason's a cracking player but he's not a winger and doesn't spend much time on the wing giving the opposition far too much space down our right with only Kev as our defence against both their winger and their full back.

I wouldn't say murdered but 90% of their goal threat was coming down the right flank but as I said above I think that's more because Mason was being played on the right wing which isn't his position imo.

We played very narrow so fullbacks were always in trouble. Taylor had an easy day as Henderson is a central player.
Downing is a winger so was always going to cause trouble. The number of times kev covered Hudson and turner was remarkable.

Haha, Polo made me chuckle.

International football is still viewed as the pinnacle of success for a professional footballer, right? Well, it is very worrying that so many other right backs are preferred to Kev for Scotland. Even SPL full backs are getting in before him. Makes you wonder, Polo.
