The Sad Truth

Sun Mar 04, 2012 7:33 pm

is that despite the pride I still have for this team I'd swap it back for last year's with a few bits and bobs.

First off I'd swap Jonesy for Malky at the helm.

But you can say we bottled it etc, with 5 better defensive players including the goalkeeper I am so sure we'd be in the prem right now, Samuel, Naylor, Bywater, Keinan, Gyepes etc imagine 5 better defenders + our attack = promotion.

The excitement, football, and quality was so fun, I love this team to bits in a different meaning completely, and love the closeness and togetherness. But if we had those 5 defensive players we'd have got promotion simple as that.

We just need a bit more class and quality and we'll go up soon enough.

Defenders needed last year, attackers needed this year, it'll never be perfect ^^

No mate.

We need some skills, creativity this year, and a goalscorer.

It's not impossible is it, look at the teams who got promoted, they get promoted cus they had class everywhere across the pitch.

If we;d have had those 5 players we'd have got promoted.

Simple as that.

Sounds like attacking midfielders/strikers to me. < If we have 5 of them this year we would have gone up, just like if we had 5 defenders last year.

We need strength in depth too, last year we had that, and we played much better football, not hoof, and what a jouney it was, whitts oli bellers chops bothroyd keogh all getting goals.

Also if last year's side had got promoted we'd have stayed there, with this side we'd get the 90m, and wave hello to the champ again.

Burke, chops and jay would have done the world of good for MM if they was still here but sadly there are not due to contracts being let run down for freebies or sold

You know that's not true, it's not as if Norwich had the greatest team last year, yet look at them now.

Re: The Sad Truth

But, we gambled last season and bust.

We were left without a team.

Jay and Burky loyally fucked off for nothing. A promising kid went to Celtic for next to nothing. Chopra was a car crash waiting to happen. By some freak of logic, the rules allowed a top class premier league striker on £70k a week to return home for the season long winner takes all gamble .Six other loanee's went back to their real club and one came back.

What a mess.

Malky salvaged the wreckage. Next season is the one he gets judged on.

WHAAT, are you seriously comparing us to Norwich, you think were trying to copy Norwich;s never give up attitude, they cmbined the mental determination along with quality, Holt,Surman, Hoolahan Jackson etc, they are miles ahead of us and have class, which is why theyre doing so well. Plsu they are playing far more attractive football.

We need to remember Malky is here for the long term and the team is a work in progress.

It's also down to our transfer regime going for goodies-goodies instead of big-name/'ego's'

Look at Taarabt, Barton, Smith the list could go on for ages. They all got promoted because theyre classy, but we seem to be against big-name players. They are big-name because they are quality, we are missing out on lots of talent because of this strict regime.

I wouldn't say they did last year, then they nip us to 2nd place.

All Dave Jones's fault, Malky renewed Hudson and Whitts contract thank god. Many of our players were wastes of space but again no JLS, Gyepes, Naylor(Jonesie's classic signings) and we'd have been promoted.

I AM NOT SAYING BRING BACK JONES.

I AM SAYING BRING BACK THE FOOTBALL, CLASS, QUALITY AND TALENT but better it with the pride.

Yes ... because they had strength in depth all round the park, and they had a solid defence, Martin etc, what ive been saying ALL THREAD. If we had that last season and carried it on to the prem we'd have done similarly imo, what Ive been saying throughout this whole debate???

I will be shocked if MM doesn't get 1 or 2 luxury items, he hasn't once moaned about Whitts, who is about as luxury as it gets. He got workhorses in to secure our championship status, it worked we won't be going down.
Lets wait until next season.

You've been changing your thought every other post, state in the first post you would swap DJ for MM, then you say you don't want him back, you then say we needed defenders last year and attackers this year along with strength in depth as if it's going to happen over night. All I stated was the team will never be perfect and Norwich's work ethic last year clearly beat all of our stars stuck in a team together.

CAN you read, it says I'd want Malky not Dave Jones, sorry it was poorly worded, I would never have Jones back. Work Ethic this Work Ethic that, yes it helps, but 5 better defenders and it would have been Us promoted, simple as that. So simple. I'm not saying it could happen overnight fool, I'm saying that Malky easily could have got these class players but he decides to go for the strict regime of goodie-goodie workhorses who haven't got that much game-changing abilities and talents, second time I've said that now c;mon keep up.

So you thought we'd get relegated this year, yes we needed a squad but we should have spent to bring the quality in to MAINTAIN our good form.

Re: The Sad Truth

And I said these game-changing qualities only got us so far last season.

WTF,. IT NEARLY GOT US PROMOTED, AND ALL IVE BEEN SAYING THROUGHOUT AND IN THE MAIN POST IS:

ATTACKERS(GAME-CHANGERS)+OUR CLASS MIDFIELD OF LAST SEASON+ A SOLID DEFENCE(5 INCLUDING GOALIE) WOULD HAVE GOT US AS FAR AS COULD HAVE GOT.

As I say AGAIN for you Hywel, is that a solid defence last season would have seen us promoted, and I wish we got last team's back for their excitement, football and fun, but I'd wish we had 4 decent defenders, a fit marshall instead of bywater and Malky.

Wow, some people eh, can't read despite it being in front of their nose time after time.
