Just got back and I am a 1st time poster

Beaten by an obviously premiership quality side (better than QPR last year in my opinion). This game clearly exposed our weaknesses. Far too much space given in defence against a quality WH m\f and attack. Far too little upfront to expose any weakness in WH defence. Miller/Gestede are not the answer unless against the poorer sides. I thought Gunners, Whitts and McNugget had a good game posting.php?f=2&mode=post&d=747#. Vuckic - anonymous. Pace was lacking all round - possibly a reaction to last week. Top teams have found us out. No Plan B. Really looking forward to a Liam start on Wed if fit. Using him out wide could make a big difference (plus set pieces). Let's face it - we do not yet have a premiership quality squad. If the Malaysians really are in for the long haul then I expect 'spend' in the close season to support Malky's vision. Of course we do have a decent set of upcoming fixtures against lower level clubs. Nail those and we are back for yet another trip to Wembley. I think autos are out of touch now but would love to be proved wrong. i dont think west ham were that good. we made them look good.also we got some tough games coming up. brighton. hull. bristol city, we may be well out of the running come the EASY coventry game.lets hope not.

We're in year one of a rebuild under Malky, and imo, we've been overachieving this season.

He's been getting in a mixture of experience with raw talents like Gestede and young prospects like Mason. We've no divine right to go up, people need to take a wider perspective.

Getting the finances in better shape, building for the long term future are far, far more important than spend, spend, spend in the hope of getting into the Prem.

As long as DT,VT and the other directors are happy to stay around long enough to sort the financial situation out and absorb losses then I'm OK with that. Ultimately tho' we need to get players in to take us to the promised land - that means 'spend'.

Ridsdale and Jones spent plenty. Leading to debts. How muich longer do you believe that's sustainable?

What the club needs longer term is to scour for players like Mason. low fees, big upside, young age. Get players pushing on from the Academy.

Norwich, Swansea et al hardly spent the amount of money some want us to spend getting into the Prem, did they?

We didn't spend large last off season and picked up some gems, I guess his recruitment team have already made a few enquiries and are in clandestine talks with several players agents to fill the obvious gaps.

Totally agree, just look at Birmingham if they fail to go up they could become another Portsmouth.

We've had a fantastic season this year and I along with many did not expect that at all. We have a fairly young squad and those players will only get better.

Which juniors did the Jacks for example bring through? Joe Allen, and errm that's it. Other than that, what major money was spent getting them into the Prem?

You provide two polar opposites, acting as if it's Premiership next season or bust. It isn't.

The cash is there for youngsters. They need to be an asset with a enhanced resale value. A few older heads will be picked up on free's.

I am not criticising until next season.
