Our Current Best 11?..

Fri Mar 02, 2012 6:25 pm

Now that Lawrence has signed, a whole new window of starting XI's has opened up...

TEAM 1:
Image
Pretty basic. 4-5-1 Kenny up front, Lawrence on the right, Conway on the left. Gives Cowie a chance to move into his actual position of CM with Gunnar in front of Whitts.

TEAM 2:
Image
Very similar to first team. Just with Cowie out on the left and Whitts in a more attacking position. Couldnt decide between Kiss' tough tackling or Macca's composure and passing.

TEAM 3:
Image
More of an attacking team with Vuckic in AM. Mason could be used in this position but who would you sacrifice from the bench?

TEAM 4:

Mason is key in this one. Either playing behind Miller, in front of him or alongside him.

Basically, we'll probably be using pretty much the same 16 every game, with 1 or 2 exceptions.
Defence picks itself.
When playing 4-5-1 there are a lot of options in midfield whereas Miller will allways lead the line.
When playing 4-4-2 Miller and Mason should allways be up front. Gestede has shown that he is a great target man, but he doesnt really play that well against the stronger teams in this division.

Feel free to post your strongest XI

team 3 for me. although they all look bloody good :ayatollah:

we look a better team when macca plays as it allows witts to effect the game higher up the field.
but then who would be dropped :?

Heaton
Super Kev---Hudson---Turner---Taylor
Lawrence---Gunnarsson---Whitts---Cowie
Mason
Miller

Subs: Marshall, Blake, Kiss, Conway, Gestede

I prefer Heaton to Marshall even though they are both very good keepers. I think Lawrence is going to prove to be a great signing, he was class for Pompey and I thought he was man of the match when we played them down Fratton Park earlier this season. Shame that we can't put all of our good players in the match day squad.

There is no such thing as a best 11. It's a squad effort and Malky will select his starting 11 for every game depending on players form.

Unlike last year when you could almost be certain it was 4-4-2 and when fit the 11 were certain.

Now we play a number of ways and I don't believe we have a best 11. That certainly isn't a negative and a huge positive.
