A forum for all things Cardiff City

The news reports down here saying that Portsmouth City Council have refused to help out the club in their bid to survive administration. One bloke being interviewed said there was no way they would put public money into the club!
I feel sorry for the pompey fans, most ive met are sound lads.
Who would we support if City went bust? Nobody in their right mind would support the shyt to the west, nor Bristol city or rovers. Merthyr? Barry town? County? Im not sure... personally id go without as I have no affiliation with any other team. Most likely end up an armchair fan watchin the box!
Down here they despise southampton and Brighton.... and there are no decent set ups of smaller clubs for miles...so the fans would have to jump on the bandwagon of another club or fall back to their armchairs.
sad times and like i said, couldn't imagine the day where there is no Cardiff City, to many people its a big part of their lives.
All the best to the pompey fans though

Really really sad news.
I would either go to Merthyr or go and watch a lower league club.

FC Portsmouth would be formed ready for next season. Same as we'd form FC Cardiff.

Thats very true, right down the non leagues, I would be there if it was Cardiff.

I'd watch AFC Cardiff which would inevitably be formed.

Fans yes, club no.
They've taken the piss big style. Admin, points hit, CVA. Oh wait, fail to pay the original CVA off and go into admin again. Get rid of lesser paid players, pay Kitson 20k a week.

same, otherwise an armchair fan.

There are decent clubs at Non league level down here. Eastleigh, Salisbury, Havant and Bashley all play to a decent enough level. Pompey will struggle to rise from the flames if they go under. They are also only 45 mins from Bournemouth. Hate to see them fold but they more than most have been very kamikaze over the last 5/6 years trying to live the dream. Benjani was on over 100k a week.

Feel sorry for the fans.
I'd probably go and support Newport if we ever went out of business (unless the fans formed a new Cardiff club).

Hate to say it, but we need a club of Portsmouth stature to fail to act as a wakeup call. I mean in 4 years, they gone from a decent Premier League team and FA Cup winners to potentially folding while they stand 2nd from bottom in Championship. If that doesn't bring about a change in football, nothing short of Manchester United dropping to the Blue Sq Bet North will.

"FC City Of Cardiff Barmy Army" - Imagine singing that after a couple.
But where would we play?
Fri Mar 02, 2012 8:46 pm
Id watch Merthyr. If I ever win the euromillions Im going to buy them.

There was an AFC Cardiff, didn't they used to be Inter Cardiff. If it wasn't for the setting up of the Welsh Prem we could have been an English league system, two team city.
Awful what is happening to the Pompey fans, the only tiny, tiny light at the end of the tunnel would be how good a journey it would be coming back through all the leagues with FC Portsmouth. Look at Wimbledon.

I've always planned on buying County if I ever won the Euromillions.
I'd turn them into a Feeder Club for Cardiff

I don't we'd ve able to get status in the english pyramid if we went bust. I'm afraid it would be league of wales for us

Any club that goes bust would start a new club ASAP. Nothing would change apart from the club name, they would still cherish their history and keep their amazing support, chants, nickname etc......better yet it would bring the fans close together and im 100% sure they would adopt the same policy as FC United of Manchester & Barcelona just to name two for fans owing the club by paying a yearly membership and voting on goings on at club.
I love Cardiff City FC, but if worse came to worst we would just have to play somewhere like the athletic stadium and slowly start from scratch and build our way up for 15 or so years. The City of Cardiff will always have a football club at its heart and the same enemies as always.

Agreed... also ive heard from a coach within pompey itself that Tal Ben Haim is on 30k a week

kitson 20k

Benjani on 15+K... its disgusting imo. As was our wage bill last year!!
Im all for the notion that all clubs should live within their means... but sadly that isnt how our society works anymore... credit, credit, credit!!!
If AFC Cardiff were formed, i would have to follow them
