Big Dilemma!

Fri Mar 02, 2012 12:05 pm

Having had a great day out with my son and mates at Wembley on Sunday, I've been thinking about some of the many unforgettable visions I witnessed!

Some like the Tackle by McNaughton on Suarez, just as he was about to pull the trigger in the second half, others like the tackle by Hudson on Carroll in the first half, like Suarez getting p!ssed of by being continually pursued around the pitch by Ben Turner and not being able to shake him off, like the Steven Gerrard penalty save by Tom Heaton, with Tom walking off with his fist raised in the air and also like the image of watching Don Cowie put us 1-0 ahead on penalties!

Watching a snip of a buy in Joe Mason putting us 1-0 ahead and the following goal celebrations which ensued, is another image to behold, but none of these quite reach the height of emotions I felt, when I saw Ben Turner put us level at 2-2 and gallop off into the sunset! :D

The big dilemma I have, is that there are loads of images on the internet, with Turner running round behind the goal and celebrating our equaliser! Now I'm desperate to save at least one of these images, but like the image in the post below, I can only find pictures of him running with his shirt off!

I'm worried that if I save this image, or any other similar image, that my friends may think that I'm a bit gay! :?

Help please! :) :ayatollah:

Working as a PT Photographer, for an agency, I would be more worried about the bill you are likely to receive were you to "download" or "save" one of those pictures.

Its a little known fact that data is encoded into pictures, by many sports agencies, which can tell where and when a picture is used. If a picture is used without authority many agencies will invoice the person who is using the picture.

Getty are one of the main agencies. I know of one situation where someone downloaded a baby photo from "Google Images" and used that picture for their own purposes. The picture was owned by Getty and they subsequently invoice the individual for around £2000 - as the picture was no longer "exclusive".

Im not here to lecture - Just be careful :ayatollah:

Surely if the individual isn't gaining any financial or reputable benefit from using the photo (i.e. on Facebook or Twitter as a profile page) then the photography agency cannot sue?

I wish I could say that were the case. I do a lot of work for the Action Plus Sports Agency (as well as the Club) and was there at Wembley for them.

The price of a picture differs depending on how exclusive it is.

I personally wouldnt object to sending a fellow city supporter one of my images - if they wanted something specific (provided I hadnt sent it to an agency). However, many agencies do have the capability of knowing where an image has been used and want paying for it.

In the "baby photo" I referred earlier the agency concerned allegedly referred to "Theft of Copyright Material".
