For 500 000,4 year contract according to terry Phillips
Cardiff City midfielder Filip Kiss signs new long-term contract at Bluebirds
By Terry PhillipsMar 2 2012
Cardiff City midfielder Filip Kiss
FILIP Kiss, Cardiff City’s hard-tackling young midfield player, has committed to the Bluebirds until 2016.
Slovakian Kiss, 21, has agreed a long-term contract after initially joining City on a season-long loan.
The new deal has not been officially confirmed by City, but they have agreed a fee of just under £500,000 and Kiss is committed to the club for the next four years.
Manager Malky Mackay tracked Kiss for a year, starting when he was still at Watford, before bringing him to South Wales and flew to Slovakia on a personal scouting mission after a series of highly favourable reports.
Defensive, box-to-box midfielder Kiss, who has joined City from Slovan Bratislava, is one of Mackay’s talented young guns alongside Joe Mason, Joe Ralls and Kadeem Harris.
Mackay has always made it clear he wanted to turn the Kiss loan into a permanent transfer, while Kiss underlined his desire to play for Cardiff City when he made the 3,000-mile dash from Kazakhstan to South Wales at the start of this season.
He was involved in the Slovan Bratislava team for their European Champions League tie in Kazakhstan before making a long flight to the UK where he watched City’s pre-season friendly against Celtic.
“Filip is a young footballer with a lot of potential and talent,” said Mackay, while the young Slovak has said: “Championship football is quicker than I was used to back home and the tackling is different, but I’m happy to fill the role of the tackler.
“Football is not just about the passing side of football. Hopefully, playing the role I do I can free up space for other players around me to create chances.
“My preferred position is in the centre, but I’ll fit in wherever the manager wants me. I will keep working constantly to improve my game.”
The 6ft 1in Kiss is captain of Slovakia’s under-21 team, while he has made 28 first team appearances for City in league and cup this season.
His first club was Inter Bratislava, while he joined Petrzalka before making the move to Slovan two years ago.
Now he has committed to manager Mackay and Cardiff City with his newly agreed deal starting at the end of his current loan spell.

Great news in my eyes.
I think Kiss has real guts and it's always good to have someone with a dark side on the pitch.
Like Mason, I think he'll get better too.

end of the loan money then
Fri Mar 02, 2012 9:20 am

I think thats brilliant news, again its malky building for the future and Filip has proven hes a hungry ,young talented player who is only going to get better
The malaysians seem to be fully backing malkys vision of building a young squad taht are proud to wear the famous blue shirt

Kiss was a Dirk Kuyt clearance off the line away from being a cult hero on Sunday. If he had scored that goal instead of Turner the fans would be loving this.
I love Kiss. He's a terrier and a total animal. I'd say it's worth it just to have a complete c*nt in the middle of the park. Still under 21 as well. I reckon he's got the potential to be as good as Gunnarsson.

There you go,malky and kiss signing long term. Can't see them doing that if they thought there was no ambition at the club. That's all I need to know.

Steady! Keep your sense of humour, gringo! There'll never be a time when everyone's happy, even if we had won the Carling Cup last Sunday, some people would still have said we should've won it in normal time, not on penalties, or whatever.
Stay with us, we need you.

Brilliant, he's worth more than 500k be a key player for us in future got a big part to play this season as well. It's nice knowing some players will be here next season already instead of yet another new squad.

Malky kind of told us this was the case at Hammersmith Q&A
i like kiss.....great signing.

I think thats up to him TC.
As far as i'm aware most managers stop claiming their "pay-off" when they get new employment but i think they can keep claiming it as they are entitled to it. Unless something was written in DJ's contract with us regarding termination, payoff's and subsequent employment conditions.

Great to have him on board on a permanent other than a loan.
He's a bit of a mentalist too.
Cracking player and well worth the £500K price imo.

how long does he keep getting money for if there is no termination though, is it just this season?
Fri Mar 02, 2012 12:42 pm
great news fantastic player made my day after such a shit week
Fri Mar 02, 2012 12:44 pm
He was on a rolling 1 year deal, he was entitled to one years salary from the date of his contract termination, CCFC decided to Pay him monthly, orobably hoping he got a new job and either stopped his entitlement or wasnt due it anymore. All depends on his CCFC contract and what termination clauses were in place.
