Blake or Williams?

Tue Feb 28, 2012 10:47 pm

With all this talk of Turner being eliglible for Wales, one of them will have to lose their place? So who do you prefer as a
centre-back?
Ashley Williams or Darcy Blake?
I would love to see Blake keep his place but just cant see it. He would probably take Gunter's right back position but it would be hard for him to cement it

Turner certainly first choice.
Don't rate either and I don't think Collins deserves a recall after his disrespect to speed.

Williams I would say

Williams. Due to the fact he's playing week in week out, unlike Blake.

agree, im not a fans of ashley williams, but he is playing week in week out so it has be for the tiime being!

maybe we need to have a look at a few other cbs to see where their relatives are from?? ;)

Surely it is Williams first choice and then someone to play alongside him. That for me would be Turner out of Turner and Blake but ideally would be James Collins.

williams because he can pass the ball to his own team mates.

unlike darcy

Turner and Williams would be a great partnership....

Re: Blake or Williams?

1. Williams
2. Turner
3. Blake

Turner as the massive brick wall, dominant in the air and quicker than he looks and Williams as the more composed, better passing defender would be a great combo.

No-one can deny that Ashley Williams is a class act. Week-in, week out performer in the Prem v's someone with potential that can't get into The City side? no brainer

Of eligible welsh defenders Ashley Williams is the best by a long way. However neither Williams nor Turner should play for Wales as the grandparents rule is bollox. Blake and Collins should be the 1st choice pairing.

Definitely Williams.

Both of them were terrible last night so neither lol

But if a gun was held to my head... i'd say Williams

Turner would slot in lovley, shame blake would be dropped but williams does play each week

Re: Blake or Williams?

Williams and either Blake or Turner, if he decides to make himself available for Wales. Both of the Collins blokes have thrown their toys out of the pram. James, in particular, can always be relied upon to give away a goal or a penalty.

The fact we have the potential partnership of Turner and Williams at the back shows how far behind other countries Wales are in terms of talent. No disrespect to either but when you compare them to other national centre back partnerships... the gulf in class is ridiculous and until we get a quality back four we won't be qualifying for any tournaments.

A Bluebird over a Jack any time :D

Although I think that Turner could make his way into the Wales team on current form.

Taylor should be left back with Matthews right back. Central defenders open to debate-Williams is best eligible player but personally i hate the grandparents rule and would rather see 11 welsh born players on the pitch.

good god something we agree on , to be fair i don't think you boys have seen the best of williams playing for wales , for us he is superb but he's english , but he's eligible for wales and he'll be first choice imo

Problem is both Gunter and Matthews are sub standard players at this level but we have no one better.
