Penalties

I'm sure this has been discussed since the idea of a result being decided on penalties came into being.

However, after Sunday's game, I wonder if the system should be changed to give each side a slightly fairer chance.

After all, if a game of such importance is being decided in this way, for it to come down to the flip of a coin as to who gets the advantage seems wrong to me.

For me, Liverpool had a massive advantage having their fans behind them. I just wonder if this system should not be changed?

From just checking the procedure on wikipedia, in fact, the flip of a coin determines which team takes the first penalty. The end the penalties are taken is then decided by the ref. On a damaged pitch, I can possibly understand the need for the penalties to be taken on the best piece of turf, but on a perfect pitch like Wembley - how did the referee decide they should be taken at Liverpool's end?

I think the system should be changed so that all of one team's penalties are taken at one end, and all of the other team's at the other. Either that, or on the coinflip, the captain can choose to either have his side take the first penalty, or decide which end to take the penalties, with the other captain being given the other choice.

The pens should have been at our end on sunday.
Liverpool had plenty of fans in the middle tier above and below us so its not as if the could have complained about not being able to see it

They should have put a set of goalposts up opposite the dugout. No one can complain then.
