" SO TOM HEATON GETS DROPPED AGAIN "

Tue Feb 28, 2012 2:11 pm

Tom Heaton wont start in the league games unless Marshall is injured.

So Marshall starts the Westham game, so at the age of 25, Heaton will be a steal for any club, out of contract in May, he can now negotiate a contract with other clubs. No one can blame him if or when he leaves Cardiff City, as a goal keeper with Heaton's qualities he will surely want first team football if your ambitious.

Its only fair IMO.
Marshall was dropped when in excellent form leading up to the Palace game. This was always going to be the case.

Wouldnt blame Tom if he left but I hope he stays but a manager will always have a number one.

what have the club done wrong?

You can only play 1 GK, Do you think Marshall moaned when he didnt play at Wembley even though he's number 1?

Maybe Heaton has refused to sign a new deal, that can't be helped i'm afraid.

What do you want the club to do play two keepers. Whoever they play the other isnt going to be happy.

I haven't said anything of the sort Craig, I am just making a true statement and then saying you can understand if Heaton leaves us.
But if I was him, I would leave us.

Also, City should of signed him on a new contract by now, thats my opinion.

Personally I think Heaton is better keeper than Marshall and if we were to cast one off it should be Marshall.

it hasnt happened yet, all ifs and buts and negative gash as per.. Always something being stirred up.. I'll start moaning if and when it happens.. we have two pretty good keepers not just one, they both have their strengths and weaknesses and can both knock out top notch performances on their day.. Really wish people would leave the managing to the people who manage

A player is out of contract and has been superb, surely we are allowed to debate the situation ? its not stirring it up its facts.

No probs Craig, I just like causing a good debate, but Carwyn has a point I would hate to lose Heaton on a free.

Re: " SO TOM HEATON GETS DROPPED AGAIN "

Annis do you know how long Marshall has left on his contract?

Re: " SO TOM HEATON GETS DROPPED AGAIN "

Tue Feb 28, 2012 2:42 pm

neither heaton or marshall are good enough, heaton may have saved a few penalities but he is still far from being a top keeper, his age is on his side and he will definately improve over the next few seasons, but if we want promotion both keepers would struggle at the top level

Re: " SO TOM HEATON GETS DROPPED AGAIN "

Tue Feb 28, 2012 2:43 pm

I think Heaton has come on leaps and bounds since he returned to us.

When he first left after his initial season on loan I was not too bothered but I thnk he has really upped his game since returning to us.

The question for me is which of the two I feel more comfortable with in goal.

For me it has to be Heaton.

Will be disappointed if he leaves. Malky however seems to have decided that Marshall will play unless he's injured and only then will Heaton get a game. Wouldn't expect Heaton to stay on those terms.

Malky's decision.

He pulled off some cracking saves on Sunday.

As for the top level lets get there first and then worry about upgrading players.

Luke,
Yes, I think Marshalls runs out this season as well, not 100% but pretty sure.

After the Palace away game he got plenty of stick, loads of people saying Marshall has to play.

If we do manage to go up I think we need a better No.1, and even though I think Marshall just about No.1 for me I think Heaton makes a better No.2 so would look at replacing Marshall. Makes sense to me anyhow!!

Be a real shame if he leaves.

Unusually for us, we have two very good keepers at the same time. Can't remember when that was last the case - the 80s, maybe? Not sure, still suffering the after effects from Sunday.
