A forum for all things Cardiff City

I saw the interview with Craig Bellamy earlier and to be honest I am getting fed up of his condescending attitude towards us.
He actually had the nerve to state it would be nice if we had more Welsh players. Perhaps Gareth Bale, Ryan Giggs and indeed himself should state they are going back to their roots and join the good ship "Cardiff City."
I think he's doing a poor impersonation of Roy Keane. Nowhere near as professional as R.K.

He has a good point though! Cardiff City, Capital of Wales. Should really be having more Welsh players involved in some way shape or form.

Did he actually say that?
Even if he did, people say things and then change there minds.
He is giving his opinion and he isn't one to say what he should say, gives an opinion.

In some shape or form?
As in buy anyone because they are Welsh and they can sit on the bench or be reserve regulars?

He said he wanted to play for City. Never once said about playing for nothing. The media fabricated that from no-where.

No, as in try and bleed through more talent and give them games. Even if they are playing reserve/development matches then its still progress for them and it still means we would be producing more Welsh talent.
Even if we were to buy Welsh players, it would be Welsh players that could actually add to the team (Andy King for example) or youth prospects from other clubs.

Im not interested in what we do for Welsh football, Im more concerned what our players do for Cardiff City.

Just take this as a scenario for a minute. Cardiff City bringing through the next wave of Welsh professionals that end up being in or around the Wales set up consistently. This would mean that their understanding of how the other played was significantly increased and the gelling process would be minimized. As well as that, having young raw talent that are Welsh signed up for the capital of their country is going to be seen as an honour to them so they will play with pride and heart each moment they step onto the pitch. They wont be a player that is a "temporary Cardiff lad", they will be players that are Welsh and are fully commited to see the team that is the capital of their country succeed no matter the cost.

I would love more welsh players to be in our squad but if we are not breeding them we have to buy and then comes the point of can we afford it? Do we buy a 4 mil welshman or a 3 mil englishman who are similar? Its rare people play for where they are from nowadays you get the odd player who is loyal but the amount of money being thrown about lately is impossible so we have to bring them through the ranks and then with bigger clubs sniffing about its just as hard!

Cheers Bella's for that one season you tried to make that dream of Premiership football happen for our club, we blew it with what has to have been our best chance in decades, you gave us 100%.
That's a message to all you snipers, you don't deserve what he did for us.

Your possibly right with that. However, our academy never let them go, they just didnt take them on to begin with.

The other problem is, where do we get these players from, I dont think there is a massive amount of quality welsh players out there, once you take away bale and ramsey and 1 or 2 others.
If we got our scouting sorted out throughout Wales, then perhaps we could get a few extra welsh players in, if the quality is there that is.
