Bellamy/Gerrard 'Handshake'

Tue Feb 28, 2012 12:10 am

Bellers walked over to Gerrard after he had spoken to each Cardiff player, they seemed to exchange words and Bellers shook his head and walked off. Rumour has it Jones sent Gerrard to Hull as they didn't see eye to eye, of course Gerrard wouldn't be in any mood to talk. Wonder what was said ...

Gerrard looked in a mood before the pens. Heaton went up to him and shook his head and he basically pushed him away.

Can't see it being true that jones sent him away because they didn't get on tho. More to do with him being shit lol

Gerrards got a stinking attitude and thinks hes better than he is imo i dont hate him for missing the pen because imo he should never of been in that situation ... He was just lucky kev and hudson went off because if hudson needed subbing at a diff time blake comes on .... He was at fault for kuyt goal too ... Just putting it out there

Gerrard was sent out on loan because him and Jonesy had a little tiff and Jonesy dropped him from the starting line up. Gezza got annoyed that he wasn't getting and first team football and asked to be loaned out. That's what I remember being told. Nothing to do with Bellamy.

Malky played an "unfit" Hudson over Gerrard because Hudson is a better player, not because of Gerrard having a bad attitude or being a Liverpool supporter.

Gerrards biggest problem is he thinks he is better than what he is, massive weakness.

I would have said his weakness was attempting to be the next Lionel Messi with his running and passing but there you go

Where did i say he wasnt played because of his attitide? I didnt say he wasnt played because of that ... I just stated i think he has one and im probably not the only one who think he beleives hes better than he is! :ayatollah:

Was just stating how it was fella :ayatollah: He has a hot headed attitude and a competitive attitude ill give him that but sometimes it is a bit much. Plenty of footballers believe they are better than they are untill they get hit with some reality and i think this will be his little dose of it. :ayatollah:

Good point lets hope he can push on and give the centrebacks a run for their money over the next few months! .. But i think if he do not get much game time from now till the end of season he will ask to go elsewhere ... Im guessing hull would be his choice

A.Gerrard would have NEVER EVER been in my shortlist to take a pen for CCFC against Liverpool.............he is SCOUSE through and through, and his heart would have just NOT BEEN IN IT!!...........THERE.........said it!! :(

To say he is scouse through and through is a little wrong, he did play for Everton remember. If he was that loyal to Liverpool he would never have stepped foot there.

No he should not have taken a penalty but he obviously put himself forward when better takers declined to put themselves forward.
after the scousers first two penalty misses he should never have got in that position anyway.
at the end of the day he was one of the team whp performed heroically and whilst he wears our shirt we should support him not criticise.

A bit disappointed with the Gerrard bashing. He stepped up and he missed. It was too close for it to be a purposeful miss so those claims are obscene. You also can't fake that sorrow he expressed after it. As someone said, Gerrard stepped up when others shirked it. I'm sure I've seen Blake and Kiss smash home top draw pens before but they clearly didn't fancy it.

As for the Bellamy and Gerrard "spat" it could have been anything. Neither of them are the easiest characters to get on with for some so can you imagine them getting along with each other? I am sure Bellamy tried to offer an encouraging word saying "fair play, I didn't have the balls to step up against my hometown club" and Gerrard was probably inconsolable and thought "you didn't step up so how do you know how I feel?"...

Could have been anything but given their volatile natures, if it was something serious I'm sure they'd have been at each others' throats.

I cant believe the shit im reading! Gerrard is a good player & had the balls to take a pen.

U all seem to forget the goal he scored the after Mikey Dye passed and him taking off the black armband. He loves CCFC and the fans. You only have to read his twitter comment to know that.

f**k u all!! Always got to moan about something

Absolutely incredible that anyone can have a go at any of our team following Sunday. Most people were expecting a 3-0 or 4-0 scoreline and we were magnificent. To go behind in extra time and come back against a team so clearly above us in terms of quality takes some doing.

To anyone questioning Gerrard, I suggest you watch Turners goal again and see Gerrards reaction. Pure and utter joy. There is no question in my mind that he wanted to win as much as anyone.

Not sure what to say on this thread really. For almost 2 days everything was positive/proud etc. I hope we dont go down the road of blaming individuals!

He had the guts to take one so fair play to him.

At the end of the day it's not his fault he isn't a very good player.

I remember when people thought Gerrard was our best centre back.
Im not the blokes biggest fan, but I will never slate him.
I have my own thoughts about what took place Sunday, but Im not going to bother airing them :ayatollah:

Very true and Gerrard is an Everton supporter not Liverpool!

Yes Gerrard made a sloppy pass to Kuyt for their second goal, but whilst he took a rubbish penalty, were there that many other obvious options for Malky to pick from? I don't think so and at least he had the bottle to give it a go!

Find it hard to believe that there are so many one eyed people on here having a go at Gerrard and everybody singing Hudson's praise!

I don't like having a pop at any of our players individually or collectively either, but to balance matters, everybody has forgotten the clearance that Hudson made straight to Charlie Adam in the first half, that winged it's way just passed Heaton's post, or his attempted clearance with his knee?

This isn't me just coming on here to have a pop at Hudson, as I thought he played very well overall considering he's been out for several weeks and I do think that he's a better option than Gerrard atm, but had Adam's shot gone in, everybody wouild have all been on here slagging him off, instead of Gerrard!

He is a Liverpool fan not an Everton fan. He was at their 2007 final in Athens.

Fed up about hearing how much bottle it took to step up

Its not like he is in Iraq dodging bullets, or performing life saving surgery on someone, he only had to take a kick from 12 yards for f**k sake.

Well I thought he was an Everton fan, as most of his family are split between red & blue!

I'm not convinced that you are right though and I went to watch Arsenal v Aston Villa in the 80's, as I was in London on a course and managed to get a ticket!

Doesn't mean that I support either of them (which I don't btw), as I just wanted to watch a bit of footie! :)

Agree with most of this, as I used to take all my team's penalties and spent nearly 13 years in the Army!

However, there were clearly many a City player who clearly chose not to step up, so IMO it's harsh to criticise Gerrard for at least having a go!

lets leave the slagging players off until the end of the season right now they have a job to do ,
and they need to be backed,

thats if any of you lot would be happy with promotion, probably still find something to moan about :D
